How many use a ball spinner at home? Have been keeping my eye out for one for awhile. Buddy of mine has a 3/4 hp spinner, not sure what brand, that I am going to trade him a ball for. I have a 16lb Brunswick ball that I can't throw that we worked out a trade for the spinner.

Now, I need to learn how to use it and get some pads and polish etc to use with it. Will have the spinner in a few weeks. Excited to be able to surface my balls on my own.

The Spinner from Innovative comes with some reading material on how best to use it.

Let me know if you need it, I'll scan a copy for you.

I suggest you get some kind of large container, or "flower pot" to contain any liquids that will be flung off the ball.

I had a large circle of debris on my garage floor from when I first tried the spinner.

You can't just put the spinner on a table and turn it on.

It's quite likely that with a ball on it, the damn thing will shake the table violently.

Thats why it ended up in the middle of the garage floor at first.

I will be ordering mine soon for sure. I had already ordered one a few weeks ago and it was shipped but the truck got stuck in the vicous snow storm that paralized the entire city of Atlanta, thankfully I survived :-), but my package was lost. My money was refunded and I need to order it again, but have started to look at other spinners and have not made up my mind between the Innovative, Donkey, and Vertex.

I enjoy tinkering with stuff so it will be a valuable tool for me.

I WOULD NOT BE WITHOUT A SPINNER PERIOD!!

1. Makes cleaning your bowling balls a breeze, and does it MUCH BETTER THEN by hand, NO comparison !

2. Easy and saves you money on trying out different surfaces

3. Resurfacing a ball

4. Applyin polish, and feeling the heat as it penetrates the ball, (can't be done by hand) to that degree! Also applies the polish much more evenly!

Yes, it can be messy,,, I have built a removable wooden shiled that goes around the work area! It folds up when not in use.

The innovative spinner, which is what Iceman has, comes with lots of free stuff,,, polish, ect! IT also comes with a DVD, and work booklet.

Believe me a ball for a spinner is a steal!!!! Next to my Wife, My spinner is my second great love!!

OOPS!!!

My sons and grand kids rate much higher LOL,,, but in regards to bowling, I would trade how ever many balls I had to, in order to have a spinner!

You should give one a Spin, tccstudent!

Just don't buy a DONKEE spinner...Sorry DONKEE, but the pully on the bottom below the ball will not stay on!!! The set screw is crap!!

I have to fix it every time I use it!! I will be buying a different brand next time for sure!!!

You will love having your own ball spinner!!! :) ..I would love mine if it would stop breaking...I had to drill a hole all the way through the shaft, and it still comes loose. The vibration is too much for it to handle, So I will be buying the type that Pro Shops use next time!!

Innovative is the way to go. Great product, and just as good, if not better, customer service. Made right here in PA.

Vertex/innovative about the same thing, comes down to like $10 difference depending on the package you buy.

Also don't buy a foot pedal from either one... You can get one from a tool catalogue for $10.

Yeah, use the kind that Pro Shops use.... like my shop. I have a uh uh Donkee. oops.

I haven't had any problems with a pully coming loose.

I have this (http://www.donkee.com/p-93-34-hp-2-speed-donkee-bowling-ball-spinner-package.aspx) one, or an earlier equivalent model.

Innovative makes about the best ones and have a great warranty plus they have excellent customer service. I bought my tub mount from them 17 years ago and it's still going strong.

Anybody have any questions about their stuff check with ballspinner (John Jameson of Innovative) on bowlingchat.net

And I believe Innovative now owns Vertex ( not sure though).

The older Donkee's also had a rep. for vibration/wobble issue's. Though the newer ones are supposed to have corrected this.

I have the one below: And the set screw kept coming loose, so I put thread lock on it, and got it as tight as I could. on the next use it vibrated loose again, and so this kept on until you could no longer tighten the set screw!!

So I then had to drill a hole all the way through the pulley and shaft, and run a bigger screw through pulley and shaft. And It still keeps vibrating loose!!

I will never buy another from them because of this. I would rather spend $500 and get what my local Pro shop uses, because they never have to mess around with that silly crap, they just turn it on and works perfect every time.

I was trained in the Pro shop, and there $500 setup never fails...ever!!

This one is what I have..but maybe mine is the older model, as mine is 5 years old, but is the two speed 3/4 hp model.

I must have gotten one of the wobble/vibrators..LOL Because Mine is a POS!!

I would rather pay three times that much, and know I will never have any trouble out of it, with what I have been through with my spinner, the savings was not worth it!!!

I agree with bowl1820, I have had my Innovative spinner for over a year, and it gets a lot of use! NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!! As I have said, before, and will say again, BEST MONEY A SERIOUS BOWLER CAN SPEND!! You can do everything better with a Spinner!!

I built one with a Harbor Freight drill press, mixing bowl and some small hardware....cost me all of $60. Works great, I've used it to refinish and upkeep my entire arsenal for some time.

Here's some pics from the trial run (it's since been hard-mounted to a stand). I can adjust speed with the belts, and the $4 Big Lots plastic tub keeps splatter to a minimum and keeps water out of the motor.

I am just a poor college student living in an apartment I dont have room for one. When I have the need to use a ball spinner I just use the one at the proshop I am tight enough with all the proshop owners around here that I can just go in and work on my own stuff.

I use my spinner alot more than I thought I would, its really the best thing just for cleaning.

I watched a bunch of Innovative's youtube videos and have used that knowledge (and a box of abralon pads) to make some surface adjustments to my equipment too. Its really a great tool.

I made one out of an old buffer. It doesn't look like much, but it gets the job done!

Got the ball spinner from my team mate that I traded a ball to. I think I got the better end of the deal on it. 3/4 hp 2 speed Donkee ball spinner with splash guard. Will not have a chance to try it out until next week though. Have Abralon pads etc coming in the mail and will be travelling.

Did they use a flower pot to hold the ball??????? LMAO!!! If it works it works,,, but I picture a big old fat bunch of flower coming out the top of that BALL HOLDER! LOL

I know I use my spinner a LOT! I use it to not only change surface, but cleaning balls after each league night. NOTHING get a ball cleaner then a spinner. Just hold the cotton rag up against the ball, turn the flower pot on, and spray cleaner on while holding pressure against the ball.

You can't clean a ball surface anywhere close doing it by hand! ENJOY .... I know I do mine.

Donkee sells the "splash guard" with their spinners. Does indeed look exactly like a flower pot.
