View Full Version : How about a clean series?

So Wednesday night I didn't break any personal bests or anything, had a good night, shot 692.

And my team mate said "you know you just shot a clean series?" Sure enough I looked back and I didn't have an open frame for the entire night.

Is this pretty common or did I just hit a fluke milestone? I mean, I'm really happy I picked up all the spares I should have and everything, but I attribute it more to a lucky break of getting no bad splits all night (I guess I should have bought a powerball ticket too...).

I think there used to be an award given for a clean series? Might have been a local thing. Either way, it's a pretty cool accomplishment for a night of bowling.

I think it's tough to do avoiding splits and picking up all spares is no easy task.

Nice job, and great series too! At a time when they are cutting back on ALL AWARDS, I doubt it will ever happen.
I would make a copy of the score sheet, (they will do that for you at most establishments,,, a copy of frame by frame),,,, then you could frame it yourself, of just put it in a file folder to save. NICE JOB!!

I hope your teammates bought you a beer! I sure would have

Not common that I know of and a great accomplishment. Clean games I think are pretty common - I typically will have 2 in a normal series but rarely shoot a 3 game series without at least 1.

Clean series are very nice. Does not happen very often. Congrats!!

Congrats! I would think a clean series is something that's not very common for us amateur bowlers.

Congrats, it's a worthy feat.

My buddy just had a 574 series that was clean. I've never seen a clean series that low, it was a first. But really when you think about his spare shooting it was in action on almost every single frame - and 100% so in a weird way I think I was more impressed with that than an 800 series.

He was leaving 10 pins like mad, and even had a 4-7-10 that he picked up. He had some pain in his hand and couldn't get behind the ball so his strike ball was coming in very weak and accounts for the bad showing in score, but he sure made up for it. He even had a gutter in his third game, but picked it up with all 10 for the spare, and only had 3 strikes the whole series IIRC.

Crazy.

I had a night with 15 strikes, and 16 Ten pins, I made all the 10 pins, but that night I decided I needed another ball besides my plastic ball.

My local association gives a clean 30 award.

A guy in my friday night league, being aware of the award, had the first 19 frames clean, then left a 4-6 split.. He let out a huge "YES" when he picked it up, then proceeded to whiff a 10 pin in the 3rd frame of game 3.

I've heard in the history of the ABC/USBC nationals, there have only been 3 people to shoot a clean 90. It just ain't all that easy unless you're throwing a ton of strikes.

Congrats on the clean series, those are always fun! I know I've had a few, but they are rare.

I have had clean games on league night but I can't remember if I had all three games clean. Congrats!

It's my primary goal every night, but I've never acheived it yet. I'd like to blame weird splits; but I know that ain't true...it's leaving too many mutiple pin spares and being closer to 60% on single pin spares than 90%.
