The sport patterns are all over the place with heavy oil in the front to no oil in the middle.
The solid cover on most of the new balls work but the new Hybrids do give you the good of both.
Ball motion is critical to score and all the help you can get to read the pattern in my opinion Hybrids will give you the ball motion for sport shots.
What works for you on Sport Patterns ?

It all depends on the length of, and the characteristics of the particular sport pattern, in relation to the style of the bowler. Personally, I like the look that I get with solids, but I really don't think that you can even begin to get a consensus.

As the old saying goes "different strokes for different folks" where
a solid might work for one person a hybrid for another and maybe even
a pearl for another on sport shots its just never a one type of ball that fits
every persons needs.

I agree with 300 and Rob, this decision is so dependent on the bowler and the pattern that there isn't going to be an answer that works for everyone. Since the only thing that I can attribute to being consistent for a sport shot is the ratio of oil, there are just too many variables that are left out for such a decision. In my opinion ratio simply determines your miss area while factors such as the length of the pattern, volume of oil, and surface of the lanes affect ball decision more.
