I was wondering if you could only have one ball besides a spare ball what would you pick. Should be balls currently in production.

From my own arsenal, I would go with the Disturbed. Controllable ball in both wet and dry conditions.

Hy Road with a hybrid coverstock.
Most successful ball on the market. Release in 2008 and still commands a high price. Symmetric and controllable, with enough versatility to be successful in any condition with minor changes.
If I could only have 3 balls...the IQ line (pearl, hybrid, and solid coverstocks)...but if I could only have ONE ball...the Hy Road without a doubt.

I haven't thrown one myself but from what I have seen from guys at my lanes I really like the look of the IQ Hybrid. I am sure it would struggle on truly burnt conditions but I think medium light to heavier it gives a great look.

I recently drilled up the new Brunswick solid Blue Ringer. I'm really impressed with it as a benchmark ball, and find that it is very versatile and adapts well to surface changes. I bowled 245-266 with it on the Kegel Sunset Strip pattern last Thursday in a Challenge Shot league.

I'll have to see how the IQ throws, but it would have to be a toss-up between that and the Misfit for me.

Or you could get the Columbia300 "Benchmark". It's advertised as THE Benchmark…thus the clever name.

Sorry but the only Colombia equipment I would want is a spare ball. I'm sure they must make something decent but I just haven't seen it.

Aslan: Please note the difference between a bowler saying that a particular ball is a good bench mark ball (medium rg and diff., medium reactive cover) and a company calling a ball "Benchmark" (marketing rhetoric designed to get you to buy a bowling ball).

Last I checked, they didn't sell many "Benchmarks" so I guess it didn't work very well.

Storm Zero G. For me I can play it in the wet in the dry but really at my skill level I suck so bad that any good games are good games.

This is a very hard question since I have so many great balls right now
Deadly Aim
Mastermind Genius
IQ Fusion
Asylum
Reign On
Out of the list I would have to say the Fusion because it seems to be the most controllable

At this point in time, I would have to say its the Deadly Aim, on house oil and two different bowling establishments! I have a feeling that the Byte is going to be a secret weapon on playing that inside part of the lane! Just need to get comfortable with the new position!
1. Deadly Aim ( I think its going to give me something special in the near future)
2. Virtual Gravity nanno pearl (my second 300 and 780 series)
3. BYTE,,, has some great potential!!! ( just need to play the inside, and get comfortable with that line) Its just a matter of TIME!
4. IQ pearl... ( My first 300)

for me i would have to say
Black Widow Assassin
Deadly Aim
i Love my Deadly but it is typically just a first game ball for me once the lanes start to transition this ball is to much for me on a ths, the Assassin on the other hand is great in game 1 clear to game 10 no matter how the lanes break down. very versatile ball and hits like a freight train

Happily, I most generally refer to my Wife as "She Who Must Be Obeyed," or "CINC-House" (Commander-in-Chief of House). Therefore, not only did she allow me to use the "Wife-I" to access BowlingBoards.com (from which I won the Most Excellent birthday present of a Storm IQ Tour Fusion -- thank you very much!), she also bought my bowling shoes (which I ordered today from Bowlingball.com). #goddess, #supportsbowling

They said it usually takes 1-2 weeks for Storm to ship it out. I'll have it drilled up some time afterward. I'll have to see how the Misfit throws in order to decide how I may want the IQ drilled. I don't want to take too long, but I want to have two different balls -- not variations of the same ball!

Somehow I don't think that will be a problem. I don't think their is a drilling that would make the IQ roll like a Misfit

Agreed.
I haven't thrown the IQ Fusion but I have the First Blood and HyRoad Pearl that are higher performance than the Misfit.
I ordered a 12lb Misfit after surgery last summer. I normally throw 14lbs. I don't know if it was the weight difference or the generic core but the Misfit just didn't have the hitting power I was used to. It seemed to be hallow on hits.
I rolled it for about a month and half after I was able to bowl. Luckily, I was able to move back up to 14 pretty quickly. I gave the ball to a Special Olympics bowler who an ex co-worker of mine was coaching. She won a Gold Medal at the Winter Games last December using the Misfit. Pretty cool!

It's a lighter ball. It simply isn't going to carry like a 14#.

Yes, I know there will be a difference with a weight drop but this was more the sound of the hit. Very hallow I believe due to the generic core.
Chels won a Gold Medal with it so maybe there's hope for you too!!
I heard the Fusion isn't the best fit for lower speed bowlers. It will be interesting to see what your experience is with both the Fusion and Misfit.

We'll see. I've resigned myself to the fact that physical limitations also imply game limitations. But, all in all, I'd rather be throwing bowling balls a little ineffectually than not throwing them at all. Who knows? With time, I may still be able to both increase my speed and go back up to 14#. We'll just have to see how the bursitis and back hold out...
RobLV1

The Fusion does have a low rg, however Storm balls under 14 lbs. use generic light bulb cores with high rg's, so the Fusion should be fine for a slower speed bowler using it under 14 lbs.

That's kind of what I was thinking, too. The 12# version *should* go longer than the 15# model, making it OK for a slower delivery.

The Misfit doesn't have a generic core. My mistake.

Well... you would know what it hits like, since you've thrown it. I bet, though, that different balls perform differently for different people -- otherwise, there wouldn't need to be so many different balls on the market. I'm holding out hope that the Misfit is a good ball for me. I'll be sure to let you know...
The back and shoulder are what they are. My hope is that "easier throwing" will help the bod. I also hope to avoid injury thereby.
