Just How to take SOME OF THE SNAP out of The Byte

I have this New Byte that is drilled as close as it can be to the ball Storm had on that remarkable day I threw their DEMO! It has the pin just above, and inbetween the middle and ring finger. Of all my balls, on house conditions its the MOST flippy at the end of the oil. I know the factory finish for this incredible ball, but at this time its just TOO STRONG for me.

It might just be my speed? We now at Strike and Spare have new TV screens, control boards, and speed indicators, (COOL)! I am throwing around 12 to 14 mph. on average...

Knowing what the out of box surfacing is, and how to get it, what and how many steps would take some of that early hook out of the ball, without destroying that magnificent move to the pocket?

I am getting ready to take a picture of the ball, so that its drilling can be seen. Monday after noon it was just a LITTLE TO STONG, so I went to the deadly aim, which worked out great for game 3.

1st game Byte: 205

2nd game Byte 198

3rd game Deadly aim 246

I was able to more much more right and even target more right with the deadly aim,,, it worked great!!!

I know the byte is one hell of a ball, it showed me that on Storm Demo Day, it has to be just a tweak I need to make on the surface.
Any of you have a good tip in regards to making a SMALL SURFACE ADJUSTMENT?

Or could it be that the BYTE just needs to be broken in and throw more games???

I just know this,,,,,Bruce the drilled called the Storm rep, and got the drilling info on the ball.

Iceman First off you could add some polish that will make the ball go longer but it could also increase that backend flip. What line were you playing with it you may need to move even father to the left. playing inside with your shoulders and hips opened up can take some getting used to. You may also try holding your ball a little higher on the start of your approach to increase your ball speed a little.

I wouldnt do anything to this ball till you get at least 25 games on it. Once you get that many games it should settle down a little. I have had this problem on many balls. Currently I seem to be further left then I have ever been though. Generaly on a fresh shot I seem to start out laying down around 20 and hitting breakpoint at around 5

My byte was pretty flippy when I first got it (still is, when it dries out on the lanes) and I have it drilled pretty similar to you. It did even out some after several games - like tcc said just give it some time to break in before messing with it. Maybe throw a few games of practice with it before re-introducing it to league.

that's what I was wondering,,, it HUGE in the flippy department, much more so then the one I threw on Storm Demo Day!! I know the ball that I threw on Storm Demo Day was pretty USED! HUMMM,,,, I want this ball to react like it did.... and at this time its way more flippy! As strong as it is in my hands, (which might have to do with my average to lower speed, 12 to 14 mph), maybe I should wait and see if it evens out after more wear?

If that don't work, then what should next step be!

I wondered about that. When I get new tires on the car, they always seem a little "over-responsive" until they settle in. I wondered if balls OOB would sort of need to "settle in" as well.

Move left and shift your target more inside the lane. Your breakpoint you won't want outside of the 8-9 board on a typical house shot.

My fault I corrected this was thinking one thing and typed another. I meant left! You want to keep this ball in the oil as long as possible the more you can keep your line in the oil and wait to hit the friction the better off you are going to be.

YOU ARE absolutely RIGHT about which direction to move!! I find that I am throwing it from a area that is completely NEW to ICEMAN! Way Left and aiming between third and fourth arrow!

ITs going to be FUN working this new part of the lane for me!!!!! Thanks for the advise!

The OOB finish on the Byte is 1500 polished. Try toning it down a little bit by hitting the surface lightly with a new 4000 abralon, or a used 3000 abralon by hand using a circular motion until the surface has dulled just slightly. This is going to make it read the oil a little bit more, and cut down on the over-reaction when it hits friction.

You beat me to it Rob. Aslo keep in mind Michael that many centers use less oil in the summer so the ball will hook more. For example in my summer league with my Fusion I start the day 7 and 5 left of where i finish game 3 in the fall in the same center

thanks for the information, I AM GOING TO HAVE TO TONE IT DOWN, IF I want to play the outside! BUT,,, but I might just leave it be, and keep throwing it on the inside. In warm up tonight standing far left, and shooting arrow 3 and 400, it made a BEAUTIFUL move into the pocket!!! FRICKEN BEAUTIFUL,,, I thought is was going to work when we started but for some reason I was erratic with THAT SHOT!

Pulled out the Deadly Aim,,,, went back to outside shooting 233, with a open in the tenth,,, easy one!!!!!!! then a 258, with all strikes but two

It was the right ball for tonight!

#2. If you ask them it's because not as many people bowling so not as much is used (b.s.)

The main reason is do to the change in the weather and the effect it has on the oil and it's viscosity.

And when the viscosity of the conditioner is changed, the ball reaction will also be different as a result.

When it's colder the oil doesn't spread out has fast as it does in the summer.

A lot of house's change the pattern lengths trying to compensate for it.
