When we moved for CA back to Kansas City we purchased this Earth Contact home! VERY ENERGY efficient... All Electric and my summer bills including air, hot water ect ect runs anywhere from 70 bucks, to as high as 140's in the summer. Winter using electricity it can run as high as
the 140s also.... but usually its just under 100 bucks. Lots of energy efficiency things were incorporated into the building of this energy tight home.
We love it! Maybe not as much as bowling, but just the same in has a special place in both our hearts. We have remodeled much of the interior ourselves.... its been a labor of LOVE... might post some pictures of the improvements if interested....
This is the side of our house,,, and its our attic area! We installed a door level with the attic floor, then installed a security steel storm door, then built a small 8X8 deck to make it easy to take things into and out of the area we are getting ready to make a hobby room! Wife is a very talented Carpenter, Plumber and electrician,,, I am not bad my self! LOL YOU should hear us arguing about just what way, and how to do our projects LOL.

We wanted basically a way to get out of the room we will be building in that part of our attic! So rather then just stairs, we decided to build a very small, but easy to enter and exit deck,,,, we made the stairs leading up wide to that moving things in and out would be a piece of cake. We still need to put a hand rail up along and up against the house. We are going to have a large patio deck in front of the house soon! Will be nice to use when we have get togethers, and gamer parties!

Its a nice small perfect for us house! We are making it bigger, by adding some rooms up stairs! Pretty cheap when you do the work yourselfs!! (:)
It's nice living in the woods!!! Lots of nature in and around our place! HOME SWEET HOME!

Well, my house is smack-dab in the middle of Suburbia, with nothing around it but other houses of very similar ilk. But we did put up an above-ground pool over the 4th weekend. No pics to post, but it's a great way to beat the heat!

Yup. "She Who Must Be Obeyed" gets what she wants. I'll have to actually take a picture, download it to my laptop, and then figure out how to post it here.

Easy.... http://imgur.com/ On right side, click computer and select photo you want uploaded and copy link it creates. Reply to the thread, and click the little icon that looks like a picture with a small tree in it(when you hover your cursor on it it will say "Insert Image", and paste the link that imgur gave to you into dialog box that pops up on the URL tab, with the "Retrieve remote...." option unchecked. Will see that the dialog automatically adds the url tag to the link and will automatically have the image appear once you submit the reply. :)

I made it 8X8 mainly just to have a nice looking way to get in, and out of the room we are building on the other side of the door. I thought steps would have looked like crap! We toyed with the idea of doing a large one, but decided we would build a big one in front of our house.
The room on the other side of the door will be a cool hobby room for my wife and me. might post some pictures of it when were done. right now it just has the floor.
