We're having some friends over and pulled out our board games. Lots of good memories. Monopoly is probably my favorite. Pictionary is right up there too. Stratego not so much. Hubby slaughters me every time.

I heard Cranium is good and might pick one up.

What's your favorite board game?

Mine is bowling where you have 40 boards that are 60 feet long to play with

Damn, they don't let you play with the pin deck?

And where did you get that 40th board from?

1. Buck Rogers: Battle for the 25th Century
2. RISK
3. Castle Risk
4. Settlers of Catan
5. Ticket to Ride
6. Blokus
7. Monopoly
8. Stratego
9. Scrabble
10. Chess

If your husband likes Stratego, but you not so much...try Ticket to Ride or Settlers of Catan. Both are very highly ranked...both deal with strategy to a degree...but are more fun for people that don't necessarily like too much strategy.

I wouldn't recommend the #1 game on my list to anyone else...simply because most people dislike RISK because it's so dang long and bowing. Buck Rogers is like, for the people that think RISK should be more in depth and take 5x longer. I've never finished 1 game of Buck Rogers in < 1 day....which is also why I have no friends willing to play that game with me. :o

Monopoly was like an endless game. I could never figure out how you win ;p

Scotland yard is probably my favorite with 4-5+ people. Risk is also good, although I prefer to play on the PC, since it's a pain setting up and all that :D

Yes Scrabble is good too. I forgot about it. Duh. We have the deluxe version where the board is plastic, holds the tiles in place, and spins.

Thanks. I'll look into Ticket to ride and Settlers of Catan. He loves the strategy games and I would like to give him a little challenge at least.

Lol! I can't remember ever actually completing a game of Monopoly. Just ran out of time and whoever had the most $$ and properties won.

Yeah, most games are better with groups for sure. When it's just the two of us it's usually gin or scrabble.

Monopoly, Life, Cathedral, Taboo (although no board is used), Yahtzee (although no board is used). Anyone remember "Go To the Head of the Class?" Or "Payday?"

Yeah, I have a few really religious cousins and every Christmas they'd show up with some new board game. I guess when you don't drink or do drugs or gamble or just generally **** your life away on cheap thrills...life is pretty boring and you tend to play a lot of board games. Well, anyways, they'd always ask me to play and at first I'd look at it and kinda think, "ughhh....that looks stupid..." but then I'd start playing it and think, "Man...this game is pretty SWEET!!" Settlers of Catan, Blokus, and Ticket to Ride are all 3 games they introduced me to. All 3 are remarkably simple in concept...fairly easy to learn in about 2 tries...and have won a bunch of "board game awards".

How does someone that makes that post ever find a girl to marry him.

For anyone born prior to 1950 or after 1952....please don't follow that advice. Asking a girl on your first date to play a game of Twister is liable to result in being slapped and most likely blacklisted in the female community.

I really loved skittle bowl. Unsure if that is the right name. Anyways a wooden ball was attached to a chain connected to a stick. Swing it around to hit wooden pins in a deep dish. It was good times, until the chain broke and the ball went through, and broke, a glass window. Dad got home from work and...............you know how it ends...

That still not enough to counteract Aslan's ability to repel chicks.

Hmmm....me in a speedo with a Twister mat and a sign saying, "Girls Please Come Play Twister!!" Hmmmmm....

Not only am I about 99% sure that would not work...I'm about 48% sure the mere discussion of it should result in an infraction. It is truly terrifying.
