View Full Version : getting a new ball, need some advice and suggestions
reign

Right now I have a storm reign and hyroad. I'm debating on retiring the reign and even If I don't I'm getting something new. I debating on the reign on, storm punch out, or potentially a roto grip ball. (I don't know to much about to to grip balls). I'm looking for something that compliments the hyroad and has skid flip type reaction. My ball speed is around 14 to 15mph. Iv never had my revs clocked but it's somewhere near 400. I know without seeing me bowl it's hard to tell what I should get. I do appreciate any advice or help in advance. If you need any other information from me to help you make a decision let me know thanks!

Maybe the IQ tour pearl or fusion would be a good fit above the hyroad

Need a little more info. Are you looking for more ball than the Hyroad or less? If your looking for something stronger I would go with a Disturbed (solid) or Asylum (hybrid). Both come dull and would handle more oil. Something similar to the Reign would be the Deranged. A little less would be the Wrecker or the August released Outcry. In storm the Hyroad Pearl would be a little more skid/flip than the Hyroad. The Hyroad solid would be a little stronger in oil than the Hyroad

You really need to have your rev rate checked. If your ball speed is 14-15 and your rev rate is really 400, you'd be consistently taking out the seven pin unless you routinely loft the left gutter cap. Get it checked, along with your ball speed (the built in monitors in bowling centers are notoriously unreliable), and we'll see what we can do to help you.

I'm looking for something more than the hyroad. When it comes to rev rate, I'm not that far left unless it's dry so its below 400 lol. I'll get it clocked if I can. I'd like something similar to my reign if possible. Thanks for the replies everyone!

I agree with Ameyers. The IQ Tour Fusion would probably be a good fit, but don't be afraid to tweak the surface.

Not a storm-roto know-it-all, but yeah I agree with RobLV1. Could be necessary to have your revs and speed checked to get a better idea, and maybe have a pro shop operator and/or someone else to watch you throw a couple of shots down the lane, so they can be more easily calculated. As well as PAP and axis rotation and stuff. With all of that deduced, should make it easier to see what'd be more fitting for your style and game.

If you were to sing God Bless America during 7th inning stretch at a baseball game, uhh I'd say yeah it could make u a little sentimental. It'd just be classified tears of joy since you're basically showing your pride of being an American and representing your country ;p

I believe the hyper cell would be a bit much for most peoples first ball
