Anyone with any experience in dealing with bowling hand swelling during play? Lately I will start with my hand fitting the ball fine, but by the middle of game two my hand swells until it's quite difficult to get out of the ball. Is it a summer thing? Humidity?

Is it your thumb? It seems to happen more during the summer with most bowlers some people have the problem year round. Simplest solution is to have your thumb hole enlarged a little and add tape so it can be removed if needed during bowling.

Thumb and fingers. In fact, my whole hand just feels inflated. Very strange

You might have your proshop check your span

You may want to think about getting the holes in your ball drilled out a little so when your hand swell it does not get to tight. Also make sure you are using the fan on the ball return to keep your hand cool. You can also try using some slide powder.

Humidity definitely plays a role with swelling as does salt intake.

I'm going to my pro shop Tuesday to get the grips changed out. My wife is also having a similar problem and she is getting hers changed out. Perhaps it's just all the bowling we're doing and our hands have a bit more fluid in them. Can always add tape to tighten a thumb or finger hole. Very hard to cram fingers in and get a clean release.

What helped me with my ever changing thumb is to switch my balls out to vise IT switch grips I got one made that fit like normal then a second "normal" one I bowled some games as it got tight I took the seconded thumb in and had it open up ;)

Thanks. I'll look those grips up.

These are one of the best inventions! I have 5 sizes now, and sometimes go through 3 during one league session if the weather is funky.

Yep same here I would be ok then my thumb would just get bigger and bigger as the night went on. So after switching I have been able to play game after game love them. I don't know how they compare to the Turbo switch grips but after switching the the Vise ITs ill never go back. Really after you first ball and set of thumbs are done then your cost is the same as a standard slug ;)

If it was me, depending on how expensive the ball was, I'd get a second ball that is virtually identical to the one you have, and have it drilled after bowling a couple of games.

What would be the point in that? If you could have 2 or 20 grips that all fit different in THE SAME BALL and any other ball that you put the VISE IT locking system in. The lock system cost the same as a thumb slug the the only cost that higher is the rumba you have made they are not that much. A lot cheaper then a ball. ;)

honestly it may have nothing to do with your ball, i experienced something like this about two years ago, and come to find out that it was the first signs of diabetes, i was over weight and had a drinking problem, i quit drinking and lost 116 pounds and now i dont have that problem anymore, but i experienced exactly what you are describing, and has something to do with circulation.

I don't like inserts. That's just my personal preference -- that's why I said, "If it was me..."

Well, I went and got bigger finger grips installed. Left the thumb alone. Went bowling and used the first game and tried messing around with different tapes in different holes, and ended up with a small piece of grip tape in the ring finger, nothing in the middle finger, and some tape in the thumb hole.
Next three games went 216, 243, 269. The 269 game was the most comfortable I have felt in that new DV8. I left a ringing 7 pin in the first frame, and hung a four pin in the 7th.

Those are great score so if it worked great but I have never heard of anyone using tape in the finger holes of a ball with finger grips.

It just felt a little looser than I wanted. I like my fingers to feel snug, and my fingers are always changing sizes. Going again tomorrow night. Wouldn't be a bit surprised to have to pull all the tape out.

Hey if you can throw like that keep it up. Can't complain about those results

Bowled one game tonight and had to pull the tape out if the finger hole. Figured with the humidity and temperature climbing that my hand would change sizes.
