So me and my wife decided a couple of years ago when money was tight to sell my car and be a one car family. It has been tough but we have made due. Well my father came into some money and decided he wanted me to get a truck I could drive around town (to the bowling alley mostly) and fix up over time.

Introducing my 83 S10 I bought for $700 ... It runs and drives. Leaks a bit of oil but I am going to replace all the seals which hopefully fixes that. It was also lowered THE WRONG WAY which I am getting fixed tomorrow. Guy removed the front springs completely on it in the front and mono leafed the back with drop blocks. Ordered new Belltech coils, shocks, spindles, and new upper + lower ball joints that will be installed tomorrow. Once I fix the oil leak I will have a ride to the alley 24/7 no more waiting for my wife to get home or catching a ride with a friend when the kids have something going on at night.

I had an old truck once that I fixed up -- it was a '55 Chevy...

Thanks guys! Yeah it seems to be a solid truck. Plan on having it done in 3 years so i can start on a 2nd one. Have 2 boys ages 9 and 6 and I want to be able to give them matching trucks when they each hit 16 with a few differences of course but yeah. Starting early so I have plenty of time to get them reliable and safe as well as good looking.

Sounds awesome. I've been without a hot-rod project since the wife and I bought our house two years ago. Man, I've been itching... Seeing your pics doesn't help. lol.

Anyway, keep putting up pics of the progress!

New front suspension is in and it rides like a dream. It came back up in the front a couple of inches but looks even with the back now.

Well Tuesday I had new tires put on it since 3 of the 4 were under 30% tread and one of those 3 was a different size tire completely.

Had a good day riding around and then bowled that night in the last series of the summer. Wednesday drove over to my buddies house hung out for a while then went to my wife's work to have lunch with her. When I left the truck just died on me in the middle of turning out of her office parking lot. Pushed it into caged warehouse area and after checking it out took the battery and alternator off to get it checked. Well they were both good and storms were rolling in so left it over night. This morning I tried to jump it at the starter with no luck so I pulled the starter and checked it by trying to jump it straight off the battery and no luck. Ok got to be the starter take it to AutoZone for a check and what do you know it is good too so WTF? Go back and start tracing wires and checking fuses even pulled the starter wires all the way up to the top of the engine and hooked the starter up laying on the engine but still no juice. I am about at my wits end checking wires and connections and can't find anything and decide to say F it for the day since I had been outside working on it all morning with my buddy Axel. I tell my buddy let's give it one more try and tug on a few wires joking around and it starts turning  ... Put it all back together and it turns over and cranks perfect. My truck trolled me today ...

Man, vehicles can be a pain in the butt. At least you have enough knowledge to do the trouble shooting yourself. Just think if you had to take it straight to a shop? You could've been hosed. Glad to hear she's running.
