I have a DV8 Marauder Mutiny that is great on medium oil, even when fresh. Where I practice and get my coaching the Mutiny does fine. But where my league is that ball refuses to turn left. It's an older house that has the original wood lanes from 1962. I'm looking for a ball that reads the mid-lane area quicker with a continuous backend hook that isn't a flippy snap. Any suggestions for me to investigate are appreciated.

These balls were suggested in another thread : Roto Grip Asylum, Storm Wipe out and Hyroad Solid , Brunswick Melee Cross, Motiv Sigma Sting

That's interesting, I thought wood lanes typically hook more?
You could try adjusting the surface on your ball. Maybe sand it down?
My friend just got a DV8 Ruckus Fued. He was looking for the same thing as you're describing. He loves it! I've watched him throw it a few and it picks up nice in the mid lane and has great continuation.
I'm going to get a Hyper Cell in a couple weeks (stupid rent!). I haven't seen one live in action but I've heard nothing but great things about it.

Hyper-cell will turn left. Tell your proshop driller what you posted. All will be fine, foreverincamo.

That might actually be the problem, depending on the conditions the ball may be burning up thus appearing weak.

I might would try a surface change, but not sand it down. (Depending on what surface it is a the moment)
If the ball is around the OOB (DV8 Marauder Mutiny has a 500 SiaAir / Rough Buff / High Gloss OOB)
and it is burning up, I'd raise the underlying grit then hit it with the polish.
If wet, knock the shine off with a 2000 or 4000

I got the ball resurfaced. I gave my pro shop the original specs and he tried to duplicate them. Problem is I never bowled with my ball during the summer where my league is because they never put the condition I'm bowling on now on the lanes until league started. I'm going back to the pro shop on Tuesday and tell him this ball won't move the way it is and change it. I'm sure he can do that.

Where my coaching is my ball works pretty well. Bowled there all summer. I have no frame of reference of what my ball would do on my league shot with the ball at OOB specs.

Best you can do is keep working with it and trying different surfaces until you find what works for you. Let us know how it works with the oob surface on it.

I practiced for 3 hours today. Fresh oil where I get coached. At the beginning I couldn't get the ball to turn left at all. So I changed my hand position from my thumb starting at 10 o'clock to starting it at 1 o'clock and getting more rotation around the ball. That helped me get more hook and the ball read the lane earlier, but I really had to concentrate on getting my thumb out of the ball. The more rotation the more I hung up in the ball. It's all timing and technique and I'm working on it all I can. I may get the ball resurfaced again but leave it dull and forget the polish this time.
