reading.changing lane conditions

Tonight in my men's league the lanes dried up by frame 7 of the first game. I started the night throwing right down board 7. By the nights end I was two boards left of the center dot and throwing my Marauder out to board 5 and still coming up high. I was killed by splits in games one and three ( 169, 150 ) game two was a 223 with an open.
Game one I didn't move soon enough and got killed. What are some things you guys look for that tells you it's time to move left without it being leaving a split?

A lot of people will tell you to watch how the ball exits the deck. I'm not very good at that what I try to watch is how early the ball reads or starts to hook. I know when it starts to pick up early it's time to move.

I really need to work on that and staying ahead of adjustments too. It's holding my game back a lot, and really it's just watching the ball as it transitions and carries. Do as I say not as I do since I always adjust way too late.

I try to watch a couple of things as Amyers said I watch
where the ball exits off of the deck and I watch to see if
the 4 pin is going down correctly.

If the 4 pin stands on a good looking pocket hit then you
had better make an adjustment on the next frame or you
may just find yourself starring at a nasty split.

agreed watch the pins, and watch you ball placement, are you hitting your mark? a guy on my team gets to jumpy to move when in reality his only problem is that he is missing his mark, on a house shot that can be a little forgiving, but missing you mark is 90% of most bowlers real problems

Most house bowlers miss their marks most of the time. The idea of playing the correct line with the correct ball in your hand is that you don't need to be perfect. If you wait to throw a perfect shot before making an adjustment, you will probably make it about three frames too late!

Thanks for the link and the tips. Yes, I was hitting where I was aiming. Some shots felt great off my hand and hit right where I was aiming, then took an abrupt left thru the nose.
