Hi all. Was wondering what many games you play in your leagues. For my Wednesday nights..

Pay...
$0.05 for a missed spare, but not for splits
$0.10 if you are the only one who doesn't mark in the frame
$0.25 if you bowl a gutter ball on the first throw
$0.25 if you bowl under average
$0.25 at the last game, person with most strikes in serious gets it
$0.50 each game and the person with most pins over average gets it
$1.00 for beer frame. Person who has lowest 1 st ball total pays
$1.00 when everyone strikes in a frame but you

All the money except for most strikes and pins above average is collected throughout the season and divided at the end of the season.

I've never bowled on a team that did this. One of the teams that I used to bowl against would use the money to take their spouses out for a nice dinner at the end of the season.

Given the growing number of people who don't like to carry cash, especially coins, I wonder how long this tradition will survive.

Wouldn't these be the same thing?

We just do poker, and keep it super simple. $1 per player/game, and you get 1 card for a strike or spare, 2 cards for a split pick up. best 5 card hand at the end wins. Our team isn't all that great so it works - we actually started doing it in part as motivation for our worst bowler to want to get better (he hasn't, still doesn't throw a hook and averages 135 in a competitive league). Oh well, we all have fun!

Similar thing in my other league, except its a league-wide game with multiple decks. Pot usually is about $10 or so per game

Some people do a certain frame in a game as their beer frame. Being hung(not striking and everyone else does) can be different. Guess it just depends on who starts or runs the "games".

We do a quarter game. We each put in $0.50 to start and then have 4 quarters. Each time a person strikes, one quarter is moved up, after the 4th strike and quarter is moved, it is now money ball. Next person to strike gets the pot, $2.00, and each person again puts in another $0.50 to start it all over. Can't even begin to tell you how much I have in quarters. Have a Steelers piggy bank that is probably 25 lbs worth of quarters. Have another few lb's of quarters in my accessory pocket of my bowling bag. I clear it out at the end of each season and start over again. :) Team mates kid me that they are paying for my kid's college education.

We also do a poker game. $1 each per game. 1 card for spare, 2 for strike. Highest hand wins the pot. I don't always win, but when I do, I win in big fashion. Typically with a straight flush or royal flush. We also have jokers which makes it a bit easier to accomplish that.

Some nights I can walk out with an extra $13-15 in my pocket between quarters and poker hands.

we play a couple differt poker games during league. We also have a pay a dollar if you throw a gutter ball, if you get hung you buy a round for the team you can only get hung once then after that it is a dollar a hang. We play a beer frame each game too.

Same here, it was something my buddy and I picked up from our summer teammates, now we brought it back to our fall team - its more fun when we bowl against our former teammates since they play too, so we end up with 10 people per game - unfortunately with 26 teams in the league we won't bowl against them again until springtime (but hopefully we bowl next to them soon)

Oh…well thats all I need. A reason to carry two rolls of nickels to bowling.

I only play two games during bowling:
1) Lets see how bad I can bowl this week.
2) Lets see how many chicks can totally ignore me this week (that are under 280lbs, and < 50 years old).

We also play game called, "Should I wait for the waitress or just get it from the snack bar" because our league is HUGE and lots of times the waitress only makes it around twice per night.

Did you all discuss that and agree with it? Sounds a little pressuring

Damn that's a lot of money going out each week. We'll it would be for me anyways ha ha ha. Our teammates play cards in a big group the wife and I don't. We are not thy good and it would be a waste of money. Also what VW was saying about having quarters all in his bag. We have to pay 25$ each 5th frame if we don't strike so I have a side pocket filled with about 20$ in quarters my wife and I almost never strike in the 5th ha ha ha ha.
