I have been bowling league for 28 years and never got coached. What was I thinking? I was more or less self taught. I got my instruction from books, magazines and videos. The only thing is with bowling you don't know if your approach or swing and release are working right. Am I staying behind the ball long enough before the release and is the swing through the release area close to my sliding foot? When you do the approach and the swing it is hard to tell if those things are done correctly.
So it just got to the point that it started to bug me. Especially after reading posts about folks here getting instructions from bowling coaches and how much it helped them with their game it gave me the incentive to do it. I will be 68 soon so I thought that I would like to do it while I am still able to bowl pretty good. The way I see it no matter how old you are you can still learn new tricks. It will be interesting to find out just how bad my technique is. Maybe it isn't and just needs a little adjustment let's say.
