So the other night, I step up to bowl and roll one of my better shots of the night - great roll, entry angle, shattered the pins. On the release, my finger insert popped out and flew halfway down the lane. So I get it glued back in and as I take my next shot, I end up dropping the ball early when I feel something weird on my hand. When the ball comes back, it's cracked like an egg and appeared to be centered around my finger hole. I haven't had an insert pop out before and thought it was strange anyway. I bought the Alpha Max on closeout for a real cheap price years ago but have only been using it last and this season. The ball will be missed. My last real shot with that ball will be memorable. Even with a low count spare that frame, I at least ended up with a respectable 230 game.

Now I'm looking for a good, cheap, heavy-oil ball. (I'm a budget bowler) If you guys hear of anything good, please post it up.

Thanks

Well, BowlerX has a DV8 Nightmare for under $100 and thats a solid coverstock that should handle heavier oil conditions without a problem.

Bowlingball.com has a great deal on the Brunswick Fortera Exile. It's more of a long/skid/flip kinda ball than a smooth/cutting through the oil and turning into the pocket kinda ball...but it's barely over $100 for Black Friday.

Bowlers mart has the DV8 Diva for $79 and a Brunswick Mastermind for $99 I thought of picking up one of those Fortera Exile's myself.

Thanks, I don't buy a whole lot of bowling stuff anymore and hadn't heard of Bowlers Mart before.

Thats a nice price on a Mastermind as well as long as shipping is free. The Diva isn't really a heavy oil ball but the Mastermind certainly is.

I bought my wife's Hammer Bad A$$ from Bowlersmart. Great service, got the ball quickly, no problems. Check them out!

Thanks all. I ended up getting the Mastermind for $100 from Bowlersmart. I drilled it pretty aggressive for heavy oil. I may need to look for an oily lane ball too. The next ball I have is more for the medium side of lane conditions. I could also try changing the surface on that ball to see if I can close the gap in the meantime.
