In this time of bad press on a police officer here in Missouri, it's good to know that MOST are Great Guys/Gals that do protect and serve the public.
Many go even further then required! Nick, my son, has always been that way! Even as a child, and very young man! I was suppose to be Santa at this gift giving, but my wifes mother was on her death bed, and died yesterday with us near by!
VERY PROUND OF THE MAN, and Officer my son has always been! Iceman/dad

I have to question the motive surrounding this article. People do this all the time for those less fortunate, they just don't make the news when they do it.

there was NO motive! Nick, didn't even know the news was going to be there! He has several older people he helps out, or does little things for! Mainly the ones that live alone he keeps an eye on them to make sure all is well!
I remember back when I helped him start a lawn care service, at 14 years old. A lady that lived a block away came up to me and said: "Do you know what a wonderful SON you have!",,,, I said yes they all 3 are special. she said: " My husband was in an accident, and will not be able to work for a while, and I told Nick we could not afford to have the grass cut." Nick said don't worry about it, when he gets back on his feet you can start paying me then!
He cut her grass for several weeks before getting paid again! He didn't tell me anything,,,, she did!
Now maybe the Police force got prior knowledge through who ever, but I can guaranty YOU it was NOT NICK!
Would not even Cross his mind, he's just that kind of man!

A week ago Monday on my seniors league, NO ONE KNOWS THIS UNTIL NOW, but I purchased a bowling ball for a lady that LOVES to bowl, but lost everything a couple years ago when her house burned down.
Two weeks ago on that Seniors league I notice her looking for a ball frantically that would fit her grip. I then asked her why she didn't just get a ball of her own, and her reply was she didn't have the money! I have seen her several years now, bowing with lane balls! She is single in her mid 50's and doesn't have a pot to **** in!
I walked up to her, WITHOUT THE NEWS CHANNELS broadcasting this, and said: Guess what, You won a new bowling ball! Go to the pro shop and tell him you are redeeming your winning ticket for a NEW ball. (gave her a flyer from the pro shop saying): (Winner of Seniors League Free Bowling Ball ) (:) I know,,, lol real original!!
I also told her it was JUST between her and me, no one else needs to know how you won the ball! She was so excited, SHE loves to bowl, and some how has enough to pay the 7.50 fee each week, and she then uses her 2 free games to practice.
She hardly ever says a word, but a very nice woman, that is still not doing to well.
You should have seen the GLOW IN HER EYES when she got her own Beautiful ball, drilled to fit her grip.
This is what life SHOULD be about! All of us helping one another, not for any motive other then making someone happy, that may be down on their luck!
NO one on that league is on this site, so its not going to make the news... LOL... I was just gald I was able to make HER Christmas special this year.
Bubba, believe it or NOT,,, there are many out there like my son,,, and I could go on and on about his compassion, caring nature!
I told the driller to play along with me,,, and paid him while she was still bowling on league! Its a great FEELING, just to see that you CAN make a difference, small as it may be!

I didn't bother reading it. Did he shoot a terrorist?
I'd like to see an article about a cop that just got fed up and gunned down a group of like 100 rioters with a tommy gun. And then didn't get indicted because the Grand Jury was like, "Actually...the rioters were kinda annoying."
And I DONT mean that as a statement against cops...AT ALL. I HONESTLY wish that these idiots would get gunned down. Or maybe they block a freeway and a semi truck just runs them over or something. It's just stupidity at this point. I haven't even bothered to watch the news in like two weeks.

Well its obviously these people are not very bright who really says man this thing in my community really makes me mad. I'm going to go tear my community up. I haven't every really figured out where these people get the free time to do this stuff anyway. I don't have time to protest or go around tearing stuff up I've got a job, kids, wife, and bowling maybe we should have storm donate them bowling balls and then they wouldn't have time for this crap either.
Moral of the story don't run from the cops don't **** the cops off.

I fully understood that you weren't questioning the motives of Iceboy's son, but the motives of the News people.
Were they reporting it because the "good deed doer" was a policeman? To give the police some good press in a time of need.

I have 3 FINE boys/men! In answer to your thoughts Mikey White! Its nice to know that there are SOME news organizations that don't just give the worst of humanity, but balance it with the Best of Humanity! That's all I have to say about this subject!

Another link that was posted by one of my police Officer friends. He happens to be a good friend of my son! I know so many good deeds that many police officers have preformed in the Kansas City Area, that don't get PRESS,,, but if EVERY bad offense is shown on national news,,,,,,, Is it such a bad thing to show just a few of the good deeds that happen all the time
Why is it that ONLY the Bad makes the news! http://www.cbsnews.com/news/sheriffs-deputies-kindness-brings-drivers-to-tears/
THANK YOU CBS!!!

That was basically my whole point. Funny during these "times" the "good cop" article comes about.
What are we saying then? If the average Joe helps out the elderly, they sure the hell don't do a news article on how "wonderful" he is.

Cops-Bad Press-Make Good press

If the average Joe helps someone, and expects it to make the news, then was it really a good deed to begin with! The world it full of people that do good deeds EVERY DAY, and don't get recognition, nor do they make the NEWS!
Most news is BAD NEWS, have you ever noticed? I have often wished that there was a news cast that was NOTHING BUT POSITEIVE, wonderful stories of humanity. What dictates that 90 percent of the news has to be NEGATIVE.
Are there bad cops? I am sure there are, but they get weeded out, and are for sure small in numbers. I do know a hell of a lot of good ones, that serve, protect, and put their lives on the line daily for all of us. It's a crazy dangerous world we live in, and I can't, for one, even think of what it would be like without them out there.
Cops= special privileges?? Special privileges go with ANY JOB you can come up with! YOU want to get into the real special privileges, take a look at all branches of our government, local, state, and national,,,( Not to mention banking).
Lets not make SMALL of acts of kindness, but rather inflate them, make them know to all.
MOST POLICE OFFICERS are just like you, they just have a lot more responsibility, and many times Put their life's on the line to make this as safe a wourld as possible.
FAIR AND Balance news is a HARD thing to find now days, with Rich Fat Cat's owing and to a large extent dictating the slant, and ANGLE they wish the stories to go.
So when I see a story like the one in St Louis, its good to show the OTHER SIDE of the story! The Hundreds, and thousands of police officers that are good, honest, hard working people, maybe like bubba, and Mike white.
Everyone wants justice, and hopefully justice will be served!! Nothing as Rotten as a bad police officer, they are rightfully head to a very high standard. Most live that code, to serve, honor, and protect!
Why all the good stories coming out NOW,,,, because they are out there and happen all the time,,, WAY TOO much negative news, on a FEW bad questionable incidents... Lets let the justice system do its thing! We have a pretty good system in this country, (not perfect, but hard to find a better system else where).http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/rr152/Cuda10371/PoliceOfficersPrayer.jpg (http://media.photobucket.com/user/Cuda10371/media/PoliceOfficersPrayer.jpg.html)

Hey I didn't make any news special report by handing out money
out of my billfold to help out some of the homeless people I ran into
over the weekend while I was out of town.
I didn't do it to make a news story I did it because I wanted to try
and help out some of the less fortunate people in this world as I was
one of the less fortunate myself around 46 years ago and living on the
streets myself never knowing when or where your next meal will come
from or having a place to lay down and have a good nights sleep.
I did it out of the kindness of my heart not for any glory or to be praised
or anything like that and no I'm not a police officer or anything like that
I'm just your average joe.

Yes I agree! Nick has been helping out a few senior citizens in his beat for some time now! Only reason the police department found out, was one of them sent a thank you letter to the mayor of Parkville. Other wise no one would have even know. Just like when he was a kid, and helped the lady that's husband had the accident, (mowing her lawn for nothing for weeks) I would have NEVER KNOWN if she had not found me, and told me the story. There are great giving, caring people out there, with no angle! OFFICER NICK is ONE!
Could it be that the Police Chief, and Mayor wanted to capitalize on my son's giving, and caring nature, with all the BAD PRESS OUT there on the St Louis story.... Maybe,,, but that doesn't diminish ONE bit the lucky man I am to have a Son like mine!
This being Christmas time, and the Grinch That Stolid Christmas being such a popular flick.......in that movie it was reported that the Grinch had a heart two sizes too small,,,, Office Nick has a heart 3 sizes too big!! Maybe that's why he is so special, and I love him very much! Ice is proud of his service to his city, and humanity!
I hope that heart stays just the way it is for the rest of his long life! I have 3 FINE BOYS/MEN, very proud father!
