So me and my 9 y/o son went to get a little practice in yesterday since he has youth league starting back up this weekend and i am working on a new approach and targeting system. Anyways I knew on the very first ball i was not going to be working with my strike balls because the lanes were burnt dry so I grabbed my plastic and just worked on consistency. My son is working on improving his consistency also since he is usually wild. This is his 2nd season bowling league and he averages 74 with a 116 high game with a c300 Lime/Slime WhiteDot. Also worth mentioning is that I have a standing agreement with him that the day he beats me I have to buy him a ball (his next ball will be his first reactive a c300 Scout around his birthday this summer).

So we are both laughing and having fun and the 3rd game rolls around. After the 2nd frame my son starts trash talking being funny and challenges me to a plastic ball shootout and so it begins. I will admit he almost got me with his new personal best game 135 and it was neck and neck going into the last few frames LOL!

I am proud of him for throwing a good game and it was a great bonding experience for us!

Nice game of 135 for 9. It won't be long before he gets you!

Aww that's awesome! And yeah, that was a great game!
I have a 7 y/o that is learning and just starting to bowl. Love the times we get to go to the lanes together!

Great game! Your son will really enjoy the Scout reactive when he finally beats you. My son's first time out with it was a new high score for him and he's beat his previous high series (official series) 3 of the last 4 weeks.

Keep challenging your son, I'm sure he'll continue to surprise you.

Thanks everyone for the kind words! Yeah he beat his personal best game and his first 2 games were 86 and 89 so he bowled his first 300 series too. He will be getting the Scout for his birthday in July if he doesn't beat me before then. He is really trying to improve since he started bowling league this last summer and because this year they are building middle school bowling teams for the first time here and he will be in Middle School in a year and half so he wants to get good enough to make the team when he gets there. He was already planning on bowling on the high school team but that is 5 years away.

He has been fighting me since he started bowling on how to bowl but he finally started listening and I think after almost beating me and bowling a great game he is ready to listen and improve with me more. i will keep you all posted as he improves. Youth league starts back up tomorrow for him so wish him luck everyone!

Here is his team from his first season bowling (summer 2014). they took 3rd out of 36 teams and the 1st and 2nd place teams were teenagers since they don't split them into age groups in the summer. He is the one on the end with the punch balloon.

I'm helping my little brother get into bowling, he only seems to take my advice If it helps him the first time. If it doesn't work right away he will brush it off xD

lol At least your little brother listens. My 14-year old son is very stubborn. He wonders why his scores aren't getting any better and I keep trying to help him out but he says what I've told him so far doesn't help. Mind you that everything that I've been saying since day 1 is the same as everybody else that's gave him free lessons. He's gotten free lessons from a guy at one of the bowling alley pro shops that I bowl at and he's been coached by Brian Valenta at a Brunswick/DV8 ball demo. Brian Valenta spent 45 minutes with him trying to get him to straighten out and open up his stance so he throws the ball straighter. I have video to remind him from time to time but I think he's at that age where he thinks he knows better than anybody else, including a PBA bowler who was on TV over the summer...
