Greater Charleston Youth/Adult USBC Tournament 1/18/15 Town and Country Lanes Nitro, WV

Well this was my second tournament for this year. I was bowling in the prep division with my youngest daughter. My wife bowled with my oldest daughter. We have been practicing for this tournament for about two weeks now and while the wife has shot some descent scores here I have really struggled. The oil pattern on these lanes is longer, heavier and flatter than any house pattern I have ever seen. In this house I really feel that I need a stronger higher surface ball but adding a new piece before the tournament was out of the question. It's been a long time since I have played outside the second arrow and on the right side of the lane.

This was a handicap tournament my average used was 192 my daughters was 117

Game 1- 189 me and 121 for my daughter- I was throwing the ball some better than I had in my practice games really a big problem has been spare shooting especially right hand side spares. you wouldn't think the flatter conditions would make a huge difference with a plastic ball but it did for me. I usually catch a little traction even with the plastic ball at about 45 feet not on these lanes it just sails into the gutter which has made me redo a lot of my spare targeting with mixed results

Game 2- 195 me and 142 for my daughter- Best game I have had on these lanes and for my daughter also she had a really good game for her. The conditions seem to be affecting the other bowlers as much if not more than me. Its interesting to have maybe 5 boards of hook to the ball at most and have bowlers come over asking how your getting that

Game 3- 177 me and 112 for my daughter- The lanes started to transition and open up a little which I thought would help but actually just made it worse move farther inside the ball never turns stay where you were at coming to far inside. I don't know just really difficult to figure out what to do.

All in all a 561 for me which with the conditions I was happy with. I wish my spare shooting could have been better. 375 for my daughter which was terrific for her I was proud she out bowled me today for certain. The conditions here were like nothing I ever seen. I have never bowled on the longer PBA patterns but I think I know what it must be like to throw on badger or something like that now.

We won third place in the prep division I was happy we got an award for my daughter who bowled well. My wife and my oldest daughter finished first in the Junior division so it was a good day for my family. I was especially happy for my wife and oldest daughter. It was my wife's first trophy period and my oldest daughter shot 100 pins over her average for the set. All in all a good day for the Myers household.

Awesome! Congrats to wife and daughter on getting first!

Will be bowling an Adult/Youth tournament next weekend. My nephew who has gotten way into the sport asked if I would bowl with him. :)

Timing not the greatest with work and moving into a new house, but gonna make the time for him and head up to Oklahoma City for the tournament.
