The the 2015 PBA50 season starts today. All the events in their entirety are on XTRA FRAME starting with the Pasco County Florida Open qualifying squads today. If you don't have an XTRA FRAME subscription it is well worth the 7.99/month or 64.99/year. They not only have all the PBA50 events but qualifying for the regular tour, special reg tour events, and archived events as well. Anyway, great to see all the HOF guys and other great senior players.

I'll get an xtra frame membership as soon as they realize people have these nifty inventions called smart TVs. Having it available via smart TV app is not particularly difficult or expensive, and yes I sent them an email telling them such.

The onus should not be on me to have to stream the content from my computer to my TV, utterly ridiculous IMO.

I'm technologically challenged so i don't even know what all that means. But, i'm sure that would help more people want to subscribe.

Averages were pretty stinky from what I saw...especially in the first two squads...so that might not be as bad as you think.

Actually, Paul is one of only 3 names I recognize that didn't make the cut. The others are Jakubowski and Scarborough. Poor Mike J...a brutal initiation into the "big time". Hopefully it doesn't discourage him too much.

But the results show that the cream certainly rises to the top. For every amateur that manages to put together a good several games...there's a LOT of big names in there just biding their time and waiting for those amateurs to finally come back to Earth.

And wow! Talk about heaven!! I get to watch Parker and WRW and Norm Duke...all Live! I'd watch this all day long versus watching EJ Tackett and Belmo loft gutters.

And Brunswick jerseys are awesome! I want to get some...like the purple and orange one that Parker wears. I wonder if they sell those?

Holy poo. I just searched and they actually DO sell those replica jerseys. Man...expensive though! Like $109. I saw a jersey in Vegas that I LOVED...but it was $75 so I passed on it. But geez...maybe if I come into some money...get me a WRW, Parker, and a Mika jersey!!

A great tournament. I love seeing the match play leading up to the stepladder. A couple shots made a huge difference in who moved on and who didn't make the cut.

Really? I didn't see any of the big names during the first squad of qualifying. I saw Traber and LeClair...but I didn't see any of the HOFers. Maybe they were all in the other squad.

xtraframe is annoying me now. My work internet is too slow to allow me to watch it live...and when I try to play archived stuff at home...it freezes after about 30 minutes and then I start over and it freezes at the same point again.

I have the same problem with it freezing and saying buffering for a long period of time. I have luck just restarting and just skipping over that point on the recording. I thought it was my crappy internet but i guess it is a xtra frame issue.

Another great stepladder finals in the 2nd pba50 tournament. The players were: Petraglia, Mohr, Baker, Bohn, Scroggins. Another tournament starts monday and the rest of the year is loaded with great events including all the PWBA events. Can't wait for those to start!

I'm really looking forward to the WPBA as well as the rest of the PBA50. The regular PBA doesn't excite me quite as much.

Hard not to be amazed at the run Parker is on. They are going to start re-considering the PBA"50" and maybe make it the PBA "60" or something because a "youngster" like Parker is just destroying people out there!

Another solid performer in all the matches I've seen...Bob Learn Jr. I don't pretend to know who he is other than his short PBA bio...but THAT dude looks really good out there and did in the other tournament I watched him in as well. He's only thrown 2 games < 225 over 2 rounds AND started out round 2 with a 300-game.

Parker is killing everyone in Round 2, but that 180s game he started with in Round 1 is still haunting him and he'll likely not pass Bob Learn for the top spot in qualifying.

Wouldn't it make more sense to make the PBA national tour and PBA50 exclusive of each other where you bowl in one but not the other? I mean, all PBAers eventually struggle as they age...and they move on to the PBA50. I think once they hit 50 they should have that option...but once they switch, then their time on the national tour is over. They can always change their mind...come back...but not do both.

The reasoning is if you simply make it "50"...then guys near the top of their game can go run rough-shot over the 55-70 year olds while still competing for national tour titles. You don't see that much at the regional level do you? I haven't seen the big name stars showing up at some PBA regional tour stop in Pawannawee, WI playing against a field of 2/3 amateurs and no-names. So why is it allowed on the PBA50?? Just a thought.

I think when they came up with "50"....it was when most people that hit 50 were a bit past their prime and were about 15-20 years from death. Now people live till their 80 and with knee scopes and shoulder scopes and knee re-construction...can bowl into their 70s.

Parker is killing everyone in Round 2, but that 180s game he started with in Round 1 is still haunting him and he'll likely not pass Bob Learn for the top spot in qualifying.

Weber did the same thing yesterday (180s Game 1 and then a hellstorm of fire from there on out) so it leads me to believe that once those lanes break down just a little bit...the lower rev guys started to get some carry.

Based on the numbers so far...my pick (who I THINK will be there vs who I may prefer...WRW):

1) Bohn III
2) Voss
3) Learn Jr.
4) Weber
5) LeClair

Jurek is right there as well. The real question mark will be how well Voss does after that stellar start yesterday. I gotta think at worst he'll be #3 after such a great start. I mean, those guys listed...are averaging around 250!!!

It's actually kinda dehumaizing as a struggling amateur bowler to see that Weber and Bohn bowled a 180s game (just one) and it might have cost them the top spot in the finals. On the other hand, it's nice watching the PBA50 or WPBA because you see bowlers missing 10-pins....chopping the 1-3-4 or the 6-10....stuff that WE do!! It makes it more "real".

Voss averaged something crazy like 253 the 1st day. He hasn't bowled a lot since turning 50 7 years ago but i'm amazed he hasn't won a pba50 national tournament yet. It is hard to bet against parker right now though. I love watching that guy throw it.

Another great step ladder finals in the 3rd pba50 tournament of the year. The players were: Dennis Rakauskas, Pete Weber, Tom Baker, Jack Jurek, Bob Learn. Some really good matches and produced very well. I won't say who won in case someone hasn't watched yet. Next tournament starts with qualifying on sunday. On saturday though there is a special event on xtra frame: The Clash Of The Legends with Parker Bohn, Walter Ray Williams, Pete Weber, and Amleto Monacelli. That should be cool to watch.

I was sad that Parker and WRW both missed the cut. Here's the things I got from watching the coverage on XTra frame:

- Someone needs to tell Bob Learn that "muscling" the ball and "fast feet" are bad.
- Jack Jurek has sweet form
- In the interview with Johnny Petragglia, I got some insight into how to get lower at the foul line.

As to the clash of legends...I didn't like it. I didn't like the length of it, I didn't like Mike J's over-the-top melodramatic commentary and stupid questions, and I can't stand the format where it's just first ball pin fall.

Does anyone know if Xtra Frame is available on Chromecast, Apple TV, Roku, PS3-4, etc?

I'd love to subscribe, but I'm not going to pay to watch it on a computer screen.

Can you explain this a bit for those of us that are electronically challenged? How does this work and what do you have to do?

Most laptops have an HDMI port, you just plug an HDMI cable into your computer and HDTV and change the source to the correct HDMI port. HDMI allows video to pass between devices connected.

It's unfortunate and unthinkable that you have to do this to watch Xtra Frame on a TV.

The way my system is setup at home, doing as you mentioned a huge P-I-T-A. Looks like I won't be subscribing. I can't believe a major organization would run an online subscription-based channel that you can't really watch on TV.

Considering that the owners of the PBA are from Microsoft, it shouldn't be surprising that they use DMCA implemented by Microsoft, rather than be compatible with many devices.

Good matches in the latest pba50 step ladder finals consisting of: ron mohr, pete weber, mike scroggins, brian leclair, mike dias. The world must coming to an end though as i saw wrw throwing full speed 2 handed shots in competition during match play earlier. I think most of us have seen him on tv messing around at the end of games and acting like he is joking around. These were actual full effort shots during the middle of competition. What is the world coming to??? That would be like nicklaus or palmer going to the long putter back in their senior pga days and that was not going to happen period.

PITA = Pain In The.....you can get the rest

What it roughly translates to is that with the audio/TV system I have at home, I can't (easily) connect my laptop to my TV. Since I don't want to watch bowling on a 14-inch screen, I'm not going to subscribe.

I saw a great Treasure Island Open last night between Parker Bohn and PDW. PDW split the first frame, then kept on striking, meanwhile Bohn struck like 7 in a row before leaving a split, they were tied going into 9th frame, Bohn prevailed I believe with a 259. Bohn seems like a great guy, and a great lefty bowler with classic style. Maybe my favorite.

And....thanks for ruining it!! I watched the first match between Parker and Mohr and part of the Parker/Scroggins match...but this morning I couldn't get it to load so I just watched PWBA qualifying for a little while. My girl Diana was on the featured lanes so I got to drool a bit. She needs to learn how to smile though. Missy Parkin...amazingly classic smile. She needs to teach the other PWBA bowlers how to do that...because man...in Lubbock...Danielle McEwen looked like she was in the middle of a frowning competition...and same thing with Diana this morning. It's one thing to be focused...but geez...you're bowling in the middle of the day and actually making money at the same time...that right there deserves at least a halfway pleasant 'smirk', right?

I'll probably watch it anyways. I've watched nearly enough Parker Bohn footage on the internet to be listed as a "potential stalker"...so I might as well watch him in this epic match...where he takes down the male version of D. McEwen's frowny face...Pete (who am, I am, you are) Weber.
