leaving me with a concussion and cervical sprain. Absolute freak accident this morning. All I did was open a rollup dock door and the top panel broke loose and hit me atop the head, knocking me unconscious. At least it was at work so the trip to the ER was paid for. I'll be fine once the bumps on my head go away and my neck frees up.

I knew there was a reason I didn't like work.

Hope you feel better.
The only days I like work are the pay days

May have to miss the last week of the season if I can't get the neck freed up. Guess I'll get em next year.

Maybe workers comp would pay for a good neck massage to try and relieve the pain. and get you back to work earlier.

I would love to see the paperwork requesting a masseuse on Worker's Comp, especially to go bowling.

Stopped in at work today. They have my accident on tape. Apparently I was unconscious about 20 minutes before. I was found by the incoming dock workers. No wonder my head hurts so much. The doctor told me to take a week to get better. Unfortunately, not allowed to bowl either, so my season is over

Lucky your company didn't dock your pay for "sleeping" on the job.

Just waiting for Aslan to chime in with the statistics of on the job injuries and how that concussion correlates into reprogramming the brain to now reduce loft and converting your single pin spares.

Mike, I guess they did since I didn't get paid for working that day. Or I'm still on the clock since I never clocked out and I'm getting time-and-a-half for lying in bed. That would work!

Well, one full week into recovery and I'm not getting better. I have had a CAT scan, and now I'm scheduled for an MRI. Tired of the pain. Gave me more pain meds that didn't stop the pain, but made me not care one bit about hurting.

Only Missy Parkin can stop the pain.

I think that still falls in the category of not caring about the pain.

Hope you have access to a good injury lawyer.
At this stage, they can help make sure you don't do something to make your situation worse financially.

I agree with Mike. See that lawyer ASAP. Make the call, first thing in the AM. There may be time deadlines to meet in order to make claims concerning this unfortunate incident.

Had my MRI today, get results on the 23rd. Still have pain, especially when I try to sleep. I guess the pain meds wear off and it all kicks in. Surprised I haven't been inundated with mail from every ambulance chaser in the state, but not a single piece of mail. I did win a radio contest for a free oil change. Too bad I can't drive yet.

Dang, here I thought my pulled muscle in my back was bad. Hope the MRI comes back as nothing serious and you just need a longer rest than normal.

One piece of unsolicited advice: My wife has worked ER and pain management. stay ahead of the pain, or you'll never catch up to it. Take pain meds shortly before you think you'll need them, and your pain level should drop and let you sleep better.

Meanwhile, sitting at home in bed alone with access to Ebay with my wife at work has scored me two new balls. Wanted to get into a summer sport league but I'm going to have to spend a long time rehabbing so I'm taking a break until later in the summer. I'll still take the kids bowling.
DV8 Ruckus Feud and Ruckus Schizo, along with a Brunswick Vintage Gold Rhino my wife bought me for my birthday next week. I had scheduled a vacation for Turkey season starting the 24th, but can't do that now either.

Start physical therapy next week, on my birthday no less. I had my first real day out of the house today. About 5 hours consisting of early dinner and a few stores with the Mrs. I enjoyed being out. My head and neck still hurt but instead of feeling like there's a 12 inch steak knife lodged in my spine, it's downgraded to a rusty nail. Every time I turn my head it sounds like it's full of rice krispies. And that's an improvement!

Survived my first day of therapy today, at the cost of a 3 hour-long nap afterwards. Triggered my.concussion headache and aggravated all the nerves in my neck and down my shoulder. Fun afternoon.
But the evening was better. Birthday dinner with the family. Daughter made me a bowling-themed birthday cake. I got two new balls, the DV8 Schizo I mentioned that showed up Monday, and my wife bought me a Brunswick Vintage Gold Rhino. A long, painful, fun birthday.

My job did ok for me. They let me cash in all of my vacation and use it to keep getting paid. I now can take what WorkersComp will pay me to buy the vacation time back so I can still go on vacation later this summer.

I had a similar but probably less serious work injury and from that experience I can tell you the workers Comp lawyer ( they will just call them a representative) will be trying to
buy you out and in turn agree not to take any legal action or obligate them to cover any future complications due to injury. Work comp would normally be paying your weekly
check and not docking you vacation, but that comes with the provision of not suing the company for negligence. Your short term and long term disability is also a source that would pay you for time off, should you have these benefits. If the injury could have lasting effects it becomes that much more important to ensure you protect your rights and do whatever it takes to secure the long term benefits in terms of medical care and future payments for you and your family.
To navigate all the potential implications and make sure you retain the ability to seek just and reasonable compensation it might require you to consult with a lawyer, in the event you would need additional surgery or are unable to return to work in your current field you might have to consider options that won't be mentioned by the workers comp or employer. Although I am not a fan of lawyers, I have had cause to use them several times in the past under similar conditions and it was very, very beneficial in protecting my interests. Good Luck and remember any dollar amounts the workers comp people tell you can be negotiable. Good Luck!
