NOT Summer bowling

Just curious how many out there do not bowl in Summer. I know plenty do and join some kind a fun league to keep working on things. I do not due to my lanes not oiling at all and I really don't feel like throwing my plastic ball every shot. It is not enjoyable to me because I feel I am not actually practicing the line I need to practice. The other reason is summer is so damn busy and I always have something else going on. On average I might go once or maybe twice during summer time. I do not consider that to be a summer bowler.

Anyone else a 3 season bowlers?

Summer is no different than winter. The league length is actually nearly identical. It used to be that fall/winter was a longer season than summer. Like your fall/winter might be 30 weeks and then you'd have a 18 week summer season. But the leagues I'm in now run like 23 weeks in the fall/winter and 23 weeks spring/summer. I end up bowling 60-72 games each season regardless of the seasons.

And unless you're a teacher or a student (or a union autoworker or European)...summer is still 'work season'. There is no "summer off" for vacations. And in California it's even more dramatically similar because the weather is the same. Some folks in the Midwest are still digging out from a brutal winter and can't wait for summer so they can go outside and actually DO things. Not an issue in SoCal. :cool:

I'm in a summer league now (first league ever). It is a Monday league and they skip Memorial Day.

Not sure the argument of summers being too busy to bowl. Most leagues are weeknights. Most people still work and generally take vacations that effect their league bowling once or maybe just twice during the summer if any.

This summer I will be on vacation July 4th week so I will have to pre-bowl just that week but otherwise ever other league night I will be there.

From 1980 through December of 1998 I bowled year round and then
in January of 1999 I received my back injury which put me out of the
bowling game until the fall of 2011.

I took off last summer and man did I ever pay for it I couldn't hit the
broadside of a barn for about the first few weeks and I finally got my
timing and swing back to where it was before.

I plan on bowling this summer and finally got my GF/ Fiancee to bowl
a summer league with me it will be her first league ever.

I'm not bowling in a league this summer due to a work-related injury. I was planning on bowling on a sport-shot or PBA Experience League. Back in the 1980's, I bowled in a singles league and a trios league. Both were 4 games-a-night leagues and 13 weeks long. No prize fund except to cover the cost of season ending cookout. Fun stuff

Good point. Here in Pittsburgh, you're ready to do anything OUTSIDE when the sun is shining.

And in Phoenix, we're ready to do anything INDOORS where the air conditioning is running!

Our leagues usually go year round...some with a week between, some not. Fall/winter is usually 36 weeks, and Summer is 14-16.

Just found out at the house we were planning to bowl our Friday league in they only had two teams sign up so that leagues not happening ugh!!!

Just Thursdays for me over the summer. Last year I did a "sport" shot league at an AMF house in the summer which was a mistake in itself. The house it was in vs. being a sport shot. The 'sport" shot was supposed to be same for 4 weeks, but played differently each and every week.
