I bought the Hyper Cell Skid after by bowling balls were stolen out of my truck in February. I was just a once a week non league bowler. In April I started noticing that the reaction was diminishing and my Pro Shop owner recommended that I get a ball cleaner and clean it every time I bowl. That worked magic for like two weeks. In late April I bought a Motiv Venom Shock and fell in love with that reaction. Ever since, I can not get the Hyper Cell Skid to hook. I've had two different pro shop guys sand it down and put new surface on it and even put a balance hole in it. The balance hole gave it like a board of hook, but nothing like it used to.

I don't have an extremely high rev rate so I figured that it was just that, but I can bowl the same exact way with the Venom Shock and get a great reaction. I will probably just buy a new ball in the next month and replace it, but I am curious of what the cause could be.

Did pro shop offer to remove oil from it? This ball like many high oil balls really suck oil up from the lanes. Especially if they put more surface on the ball for you.

I have one of the Hyper cell skid's and mine had the same reaction, this was after about 50 to 70 games, I have since switched to 14lb equipment so have not resolved the issue but will certainly have the oil removed and see if that does it!

Have you tried bathing the ball in warm water to get some of the oil out of it? Oil absorption could very well be the problem.

I would try soaking it in warm water with dawn dish soap

A friend of mine sets his bowling balls in the Florida sun. I know I asked him about cracking he said the oil comes to the surface and he wipes it down with alcohol. Then he brings them in a night when the temps have dropped closer to room temp. Personally we clean our balls as soon as we get home after which we apply storm reacta shine to them. I am buying a ball spinner soon to aid in the cleaning.
