I was going to just title it "dirty balls" but figured that would not get many views other than porn searches.

I noticed during practice how horribly marked up my ball was getting. Figured I'd take a picture to share.

Yuck Hopefully it comes off with Cleaner. Any scratches or gouges?

That's pretty nasty. I've never seen anything that dirty from my house. You could have told me there were 50 games on the ball and I still would have believed it.

Wow--I'd be notifying the staff if my balls looked that dirty!

Dirt I can deal with. It's the scratches and deep gouges.

When I purchased my Cyclone I went to many bowling alleys depending on cost and how I felt. Literally 4-5 sprinkled around the area. My ball got beat up a lot. Scratches etc.

Now with my Unhinged I bowl exclusively at the one where I bowl league. Their lanes and ball returns are clean. No dirt, dust, scratches, etc on my Unhinged yet. Could be that the Unhinged uses a stronger coverstock but if you compare the two balls it's like one has been in WWII and the other just off the rack.

Not to hijack the thread....but how is the Unhinged working for you?

I only have to compare it to my Cyclone but it is very nice and smooth. I have no reservations about it hooking back to the pocket. With the Cyclone there were many times it would just not hook back. Of course I don't use the Cyclone much anymore so it could be that my release is better with more hand in it now but I constantly start at 5th arrow or more aiming around 3rd arrow. With the Cyclone it was 3-4th arrow at most.

If I knew how to post a pic, I have one of my Brunswick Melee Cross that looks like that after 3 games . Brand new ball too . I was not happy.

I noticed the same thing with my Cross, as with my Teal Rhino Pro and Lane #1 THS before it. All three similar looking solid teal balls. Although the Cross is so far easy to clean, especially compared to the THS.

Photo is so out of focus can't tell whats a smudge and what is in the coverstock design of the ball.

Oh, and that is one reason I will never bowl a league in an AMF house.

My local center is a privately owned house, but lately it has been beating the daylights out of my stuff too. Belt marks, scratches, gouges, grease you name it. All of this is happening with the new [refurbished] ball returns they recently installed. Bringing it to the attention of the Manager did nothing. Most people I talk to just say it is par for the course with a sport like bowling, but I disagree and don't think properly maintained equipment should damage bowling balls. There is nothing more frustrating to see your brand new ball come back after the first throw with a divot in it.

It's a red/yellow/white ball…so all that dark stuff….thats not focus…thats nastiness.

I'll probably say something to them if it happens next week. I was able to get it off with cleaner and a heck of a lot of elbow grease. What worries me more is that after bowling in that house and a new one by where I live, with my old arsenal…the 3 main balls I use…all had gauges of the same size and depth in the same spot.

So I need to pay attention and try to figure out which house is causing the problem. I sure hope it's not the one nearest me…I'd hate to live next to a bowling alley I can't bowl at…but thats ridiculous.

It has to be frustrating when they refuse to even try to locate the problem . It's not normal to get gouged.Light scratches are all I tolerate. Anything deeper I complain. If they won't investigate, I walk out. Balls are expensive investments. None of us are made of money or sponsered by a ball manufacturer.

When the ball spends as much time i the gutters as Aslan's has in the past, it's amazing they last as long as they do.

OH SNAP!!

Reminds me of Mike's first shot of the 1ABHMAVZSCI!! :D

Yeah...I've guttered a LOT less lately...but I will admit the one time I really, really damaged my ball...it was a missed shot at a 7-pin that caused the old Frantic to shoot straight up into the pin deck...and bowling ball vs. metal pin setter....not really a contest...pin setter always wins. : (
