I went and practiced this morning with one of my daughters. I didn't bowl well score-wise. All I was trying to do was be consistent with my hand position at release. That didn't go very well. Had a good time with my daughter though.
The interesting part was the owner stopped down and watched the one shot where my timing was good, and I struck. He told me that I didn't need to practice much with shots like that. I told him that my timing looks that good about once every ten shots. I also told him it's because I'm recovering from a spinal injury in April, and I lost 3 months of bowling, and more than a month off of work .
The owner told me to call him when I feel up to it, and he'll give me a coaching session to help my timing and hand release. Pretty cool when that owner is Fred Borden .

Very cool. Especially since you aren't too far away from me. Which place does he run?

I'm actually way closer than I thought I'd be. Thanks for the info. I might drop in and check out the pro shop there compared to the one I have gone to in the past.

Jim Vespoint is the owner according to their website.

Jim Vespoint is the owner of The Cutting Edge Pro Shop. John, if you're interested, they have a special on the weekends from 9am until noon both days. Three hours of bowling for $7. Then on Monday nights there's coaching available. It's called the Bowling International Group, an idea of Fred's, where you have a chance to be coached by Silver, Gold, and Hall of Fame level coaches, plus high school coaches show up sometimes. There's a membership fee, and a fee for the coaching sessions. It's fun and worth it.
