Not sure if anyone here knows who Action Jackson is. But supposedly a mini celebrity bowler who has been in videos with Jason Belmonte and challenged Chris Barnes in Vegas.

Well if you know what he looks like is this him in this Burger King commercial:

He has been in a ton of commercials. He is bowling in the us open but really struggling which is surprising. He bowls regionals a lot and has one win i know of for sure.

I'm surprised to see him struggle as well. Have watched him bowl before but just can't find a good line on the conditions we have for the US Open.

I saw him at a Pro Am this year. I wouldn't call him a "celebrity" by any means. He's barely even a decent bowler in terms of being a "pro". And it shouldn't surprise anyone that he's struggling since last year at the WSOB he had one of the worst performances of the entire field.

Obviously, I'm not a huge fan...I think he's a little too "flashy" for my tastes. He has his own jerseys and I think his own logo or something. But it would be no different than MWhite or Billf or somebody getting fancy jerseys made up, entering Regionals, paying to get into some of the PBA events and the Open and Masters, etc... If ya got the cash...and you don't mind peeing it away...more power to ya. Hey, if I had a bunch of money in the bank...I'd do the same thing. Get some nice "Aslan" jerseys made up....pretend I'm a "pro". I'd probably average 150...140 but that's not important if you're flush. Thousands of poker players pay thousands of dollars to get in the WSOP event and 99% of them don't even a 'shot' at cashing much less winning. But that makes more sense because in poker you can always get lucky. But bowling it's less frequent because luck isn't gonna get you to the stepladder finals.

Most players have to be good enough at Regional PBA events the ball companies agree to support them and help pay their entry fees, equipment costs, etc.. But if you don't need the money...you don't need the sponsors. I don't think a ball company has sponsored him...but maybe that's changed since I saw him last.

Tell us how you really feel?

I have bowled 4 or 5 regionals with him. He's a very nice guy. Very approachable. Doesn't try to make it seem like he knows more the everyone else. What I enjoy most about him is his attitude when he's not bowling well. Some of these guys that start bowling bad at regionals have no regard for any of the other bowls and starting jumping other people and throwing bad lines on purpose and are just generally unsportsmanlike. He doesn't do any of that and manages to have a smile on his face. He may not have the skill set of a PJ Haggerty or Jeff Francos but he is a very enjoyable guy to bowl with.

I think we need more people like him. Seems to have fun out there and the flash is fine with me. Bowling needs more of it honestly.

I didn't mean to sound overly critical...I'm always going to be positive about someone that enjoys bowling and the sport and he does so that's great. But I wouldn't confuse someone like him with a National Tour Pro by any means.
