What are some of the major factors a ball would lose steam/energy going down the lane.

You toss two frames. On the first one everything feels good and it plows through the pins. Second time around it hits like a nerf ball.

What are some of the reasons why the difference in power:

Too much side axis rotation not enough forward roll?
Hitting dry too soon causing ball to lose skid and enter roll phase too early?

Usually into the dry too soon. I watch a lot of guys miss/throw it to the right and it not come back. the ball runs out of power and never makes it to the pocket.

decreased axis rotation, or forward roll, will decrease the hook. Opposite with more side roll.
Amount of Axis tilt determines skid, or spin. Increased axis tilt or spin produces more skid.

There many factors why balls read too early from bowlers release, type of ball used for the type of condition to name a few.
