So I've recently been able to return to the lanes in a Sunday modified sport shot league. I have been struggling for a while but seem to have been getting my groove back, slowly but surely. I have issues at times where my feet get to fast and I get to the line before my arm causing me to pull the ball. Anyone have a good technique for slowing my feet down? How do i drop my ball speed? I've tried raising the ball and taking a step up on the approach and taking a step back and lowering the ball at set-up.

I might be wrong but I think my coach said lower the ball and move forward to lower speed and move back and hold the ball higher to increase speed. Another was to slow down a little is taking a smaller first step.
Of course this would be assuming your overall timing is looking pretty good.

A smaller first step is something new and worth trying. I've tried the adjustments you said but I still manage to throw the ball between 18 & 19 mph.

I also run into this issue from time to time. Almost every time it's because i'm rushing to the line and don't realize it until a teammate points it out. Slowing down my first step and lower my ball at set-up works well.

I was successful in dropping my speed tonight after watching this video. Couldn't carry though, 10 pins an the occasional 8 or 9 pin. Shot only 543 but my team took 5. Thanks man
