Yes
Exciting tournament there, and then got to see bizarre scoring system at the WBT event, Dom Barrett threw 10 strikes for 300, not 12 and got additional 10k. Great to see Danielle on national tv as well.

What kinda weird scoring system was that?

30 points for strike, spares are whatever you get on the first shot plus 10 for conversion, so 9/ is 19 points. Miss of a spare is pinfall. Barrett threw 10 strikes for his 300, not 12 and received additional 10k bonus.

World Bowling came up with that I think to try to simplify scoring for non bowlers and see if they can use it as a possible scoring system for the Olympics if they ever get in. I think it's BS because does anyone know the scoring system for something like curling?

Unfortunately with the automatic scorers today, many bowlers themselves don't understand bowling scoring. I once saw a scratch league where the computer went down on one pair and the center manager had to keep score for the bowlers because none of them knew how to do it. I don't this this system is BS just because it's different. It definitely puts the emphasis on striking, but then is that the emphasis with all bowling today?

It is consecutively striking where you amass pins. The Olympics suck anyway. 2/3 of the stuff the winner is decided by a bias judge. Anything sport that has to be decided by a judge is too subjective.
Besides if you are too dumb to keep score in bowling go play golf. You can keep score on your fingers.

Wow they're in league play not knowing how to score? How do you anticipate what your team needs to win the point? makes no sense to me that they would not take time to learn such a vital part of bowling.

That was some very high level shot making, aside from Cooley's 10th and Jesper's 2nd game...guys shooting 240s to high 250s and LOSING, wow!!! A couple of times they talked about the conditions being "easy", but shot making is shot making under any condition!
I really didn't understand why Cooley automatically re-racked after his 1st strike in the 10th, its like he iced himself. When I'm "feeling it" like I'm sure he was, I barely let the ball come out of the return before I snatch it up and am ready to strike again.
Norm Duke is still amazing!
I really liked that Cooley and Ciminelli brought balls to give away during introductions, its things like that that might help towards bringing the sport "back"...hopefully the other pros/ball reps saw that and that becomes more of a regular occurrence.
Did anyone else pick up Barret asking if he could throw 2 more to fill the 10th? ESPN/PBA/whoever missed out on letting/making that happen. Maybe they'll be more prepared if something like that happens again in one of those weird scoring games.
When is the outcry for banning Canadians going to surface??? I mean Fach did boat-race the type of guy that everyone wanted to ban last week...being a young Canadian, Graham definitely didn't earn that victory. HAHA

Giving away balls to the crowd happens at every PBA event. Normally you just don't see it on TV. I have gone to one event where the players were signing and handing over balls before and after the tapings. All bowlers off the lanes are great guys and will talk to most all of the fans.
The world scoring is easier to count but in my eyes is not needed.

He hasn't lived in Canada in years. He has been bowling in Ohio since 2010. What is the difference between a Canadian and an American? Canadians get free health care! Aa!

Ryan was knocking the pins back with a vengeance the previous game, but Graham just stood up there like Stonewall Jackson and delivered the strikes.

Since Graham has been in Ohio the debate has been who is the best left-hander in the State, Shannon Pluhowsky, Graham Fach or Dan Swiger? I know all three but will say victories seperate them at this time. Graham won the proprieter's cup this past year but Shannon's overall record worldwide is unmatched. Dan was a force on tour many years ago until a torn achilles had him choose being a school teacher to pay the bills. Two weeks ago he shot 780 something with a 300 game just three days after left knee surgery. He could easily compete on the PBA50 tour but has zero desire to travel or pactice enough to make it worth his time.
Graham has the house record at Southwest Bowl in Urbana Ohio. He shot 868 subbing one night. Dan held the house record at Bel-Mar lanes in Sidney Ohio with a 279 triplicate series for 837. That stood for over 20 years until Joe Green rolled an 845 this season.
Kyle Cook and DJ Johnson are two more young Ohio bowlers from Urbana University that I expect to have an impact on the PBA in the not too distant future.

Did the PBA check his balls before he won the title? Might have been an illegal ball.

USBC banned the balls not the PBA.

The PBA uses USBC lists for approval so the balls are banned on the PBA Tour also but the PBA is not removing anyone's titles or anything

PBA requires USBC approved balls. The USBC, for USBC events, will not remove anyone's titles (nor should they) since the balls were approved at the time of the competition. The PBA has not, to my knowledge, weighed in.
1) I find it remarkably conincidental that this happened after two relatively unknown Motiv athletes won titles back-to-back.
2) The PBA has not commented.
3) We are "assuming" these players did not know the balls were out of spec.
That is why we invented ASTERISKS.
Were the Patriots better than the rest of the league...probably. Then why cheat? Were Barry Bonds and Mark McGuire already awesome hitters before sterioids? Absolutely. But, then why do steroids? Was Lance Armstrong the best cyclist in the World before he did steroids? Yes. But, then why do steroids?
The key is "intent". I assume Fach and Faulkner didn't know. Maybe even Motiv didn't know. So...definitely not the same thing as the steroids and Patriots stuff.
* But....what if they did? What if Motiv told their athletes that they were pushing the limits...and technically the balls might be illegal when tested....but nobody ever tests so it's not an issue? What if Graham and Gary knew?
If the PBA is worth anything...at all....which is argueable...they are going to want to investigate this and put controls in place going forward. If they don't....then this WILL happen again. If they were worth their weight in feathers...and had the least bit of marketing sense (which they don't)...they would turn this into a positive by:
A) Getting this out in the open to get attention and publicity on bowling. Remember, bad press is often better than no press.
B) Use this is a spring board to improve ball testing at tournaments.
If it's found that Motiv knew, then Motiv balls and sponsored athletes should be banned for a year from competition. If the athletes knew, they should be stripped of their titles and winnings, banned from the PBA for 1 year, and their re-instatement subject to a hearing by the PBA. In my opinion, the PBA needs to take a stand and send a clear message..."Use illegal equipment, surface prep, drilling, etc...and you will be held accountable." In this sport, the athletes need to bear the burden of ensuring their equipment is within allowable specifications.
