Hi. My fist post on this forum! I'm from Norway, and I started with bowling three months ago. Bought my first ball one month ago. Strike King 12lbs.
The release is not the only thing I'm working on, but I feel that is the thing that I can't get just right. My ball speed is about 15 mph. I think my problem is that I can't get my hand enough behind the ball.
When I try to cup my wrist to get more behind the ball, I feel that I can't get a free swing. And when my swing is not free, I tend to do even more bad things in the whole approach.
Any tips on how to get my hand more behind the ball, and still have a free swing?
The goal is to get the ball to hook more. As you see from the video, the ball doesn't hook much. However, I have a consistent angle of the spin on the ball. And the ball spins about 45 degrees relative to the lane (if that make sense).

OK I'll give it a shot. I think your timing is just a little late. Since you have a 4 step approach you should start your pushaway at the same time as your first step. I think you'll find that it'll be easier to stay behind the ball once you do that. Everything else looks pretty good to me.

just started? you have the a great swing the ball is in line perfectly, it seems, with your head as its suppose to be. the first step is perfectly crossed over in front of your slide foot at the start and you don't drift. If i could do this i would be even better and iv'e been bowling for 20 years. there are a couple of things to remember the strike king is a ball for medium-dry lanes, with a polish cover stock meaning it will give you more length down the lane and less hook, so on fresh oil you wont get much movement. How is it drilled? You also may not have the ability to add a ton of revs because its not your game, which just means almost all of your bowling balls should be drilled strong / pin down while leaving the cover stock at whatever it is. As Jason said everything looks great. I'm not to sure about the push-away it looks like its at the right time but in slo-mo i can't tell.

Thanks guys! I'll try with a bit later timing next time.
I'll take a picture of my ball so you can see the layout.

Not sure if it's an English thing, but you need to have a little earlier timing.
Check out this video by Norm Duke it explains the timing.

I did a couple of games last night, and I have to say that it helped with an earlier timing :) I also manage to cup my elbow a bit to get a bigger flat spot and helping my hand to get behind the ball. Now I just have to get used to this feeling and be able to repeat it. I see some of the pro bowlers are lowering their shoulder at the same time as they're cocking their wrist in the release. Is there a connection between those motions? Like EJ Tacket is doing here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BV7mCnkPG8k Is he using muscles in his wrist to cock it, or is it cocking because of his downwards shoulder motion?
