Well season is over for me. Initially was planning on bowling in one league, but bowled in 3.

Monday Nights:
This was my one initial league I only landed to bowl in, this was my 3rd season. Started with a 170 average and ended with a 188. I say that's a good improvement, goal for next time will be 190's. Biggest accomplishment was my first 300! And my first 700 series. My 10 pin shooting has improved but i still need to work on it. I also wanted to get more 600 series, last year only had 3 and had 7 this season. Several 580's and 590's.

Tuesday Night League
I was asked to join this league late December as someone got hurt. Bowled a total of 19 weeks with 8 600 series and 7 570's or 590's. I averaged 195. I think I did better in this league overall as it was a better team I was on.

Sunday Night
I was asked to bowl every other week in this league. Bowled 15 weeks with 5 600 series and several high 500 series. We won the league as well. This was also a better league which I will be bowling full time next fall.

Overall I feel pretty good how I bowled. More ups than downs. Feeling more confident and had a ton of fun. Learned more about the lanes, when to change balls, etc.

Considering this was my first league back in 12 years, not bad, but I'm my own worst critic. I wanted a hell of a lot more out of this. I finished at 202. This is the first year of league since I was a teenager that I didn't pop a 700. Also found out the hard way that I'm not a kid anymore, and I can't do things like I used to. I will be spending this summer revamping my game. It started last week with losing the wrist brace. I've also got to find a way to get my speed back up without using as much of my upper body. I turn 50 in June, and I just don't have the gun I used to have. I think I have the equipment in place to bring my game back to what it used to be. Need to make less mistakes! All in all, it was nice to be back on the lanes.

Ah, it was so-so.

When It became apparent I wasn't going to get to 200 after a mid-season slump, I just wanted to get to 190. I wasn't going to get there, either, but on the last night of Wednesday league, I had 759 and got to 190.01, on the dot. It was nice, and we won our Wednesday league.

Also won our Thursday league, but that's the league I use as practice. I'm not bowling in this one again after the shenanigans--I don't know what my official final average was, but it was somewhere in the low 180s.

But, I did increase my single pin spare percentage to 75% overall, and over 80% since the end of January. Not where I need to be, but I'm getting there.

Looking forward to a summer filled with golf, and I don't plan on setting foot inside a bowling alley until September.

I had a tale of 2 seasons. One I struggled in a bit and didn't meet any of my goals going in, the other I was 10+ pins higher in average and met (almost) all my goals.

I know where to focus on for improvements over the summer and next year, though! Although it's tough to be indoors when the weather is so nice...

In a lot of ways this has been a very frustrating year for me. I ended last fall with a 196 average which was lower than I carried most of the year 200+ but I ended the last 7 or 8 weeks of the season in a terrible slump which lasted through most of the summer. I got off to a good start the first 5-6 weeks of the season and the slump came right back. The home center where I did most of my bowling also closed an honestly the oil pattern they used was very suited to my game. The center manager was also a lower speed player who liked to really swing the ball so he kept the patterns where they suited him and me. I had bowled at the other centers in my area quite a bit but usually at tournaments where they tended to put down higher volume and longer patters that suit me better. To say the house patterns I have bowled on this winter has been eye opening would be an understatement.

I bowled in 4 leagues this fall and subbed in 2 others some:

Monday night mixed Galaxy Lanes I subbed in this league bowled 15 games for them and averaged 186 team finished in the middle of the pack

Tuesday night youth/adult Galaxy Lanes I bowed this with my youngest daughter we came in first I averaged 174 my lowest average of the season on older wood lanes with unpredictable oil Honestly I ended up throwing plastic half the time on this league and would have averaged higher if that's just all I used I believe.

Wednesday night men's Galaxy Lanes I subbed on this league bowled 39 games and averaged 203 for my best average of the season. This was also on wood lanes but is a 45 ft. higher volume shot. Team is in first with 2 weeks remaining.

Friday night mixed Venture Lanes Bowled this with my wife and this team has been a disaster most of the season. I've either been good or terrible here I shoot 630 or barley break 500 each week it seems like the wife has struggled with this alley and one of my teammates is an older man who is coming off some back surgery and has been very inconsistent since his come back. The team captain has a friend who comes every week and tries to tell every one how to bowl after every shot. It's like He** only colder. I averaged 179 so far here with 3 weeks remaining the team is in last.

Saturday night mixed Colonial Lanes Bowled this one with my wife also. This has been my funest league to date. Like my teammates and the team has done well. Averaging 187 team is 1 game out of first with 2 weeks to go.

Sunday Scratch Travel League This is a traveling scratch league that I bowled for the first time this year. I was really nervous as most of the top bowlers in the state bowl on this league. This league features two 3 game sets bowled on challenge patterns. I have held my own and done pretty well considering the competition in this league. I won over half of my points as this league is bowled head to head each game counts as a point. I averaged 191 on this league which honestly puts me in the lower 30% but I seem to have fared pretty well. The team did well the first half finishing 3rd but the second half has been a challenge finishing 8th out of 11 teams. I think I'm actually 2nd on the team in points won this half. Bowling a five person team where everyone is throwing high end equipment has been a learning expierence in transition. I've never expierenced lanes changing the way they do in this league.

I guess I'm going to count this season as a success. I've been taking lessons for about 3 months now and I have increased my ball speed from 10-10.5 to 11.5 to 12 mph. average now. I still very much question if a bowler can throw the ball in the high 11 low 12 mph range and compete at the higher levels of the game with modern bowling balls. Honestly a few times this year I've been ready to throw my roller bag in the river and just throw my plastic ball and drink beer.

It was an up and down and back up season. First three weeks I wa averaging around 188, then popped a huge series to get me to 200. Average climbed all the way to 209, then hit a slump that dropped my average to 203. Pushed it back up to 204, and popped another 700+ series to end the year. Had a 300 but it was at another house.
And I am a firm believer in the fact that the better the bowlers you are with or competing against, the better you play. They make you push yourself to their level, sometimes unconsciously.

Monday night league, bowled 27 of 30 weeks. Averaged 220.53, high game 278, high series 748, threw 3 700's, 21 600's. I had 41 of 81 games between 225-299. Team finished in 6th for the season

Wednesday night league, bowled 28 of 30 weeks. Averaged 205.23, high game 279, high series 721, thre 3 700's, 14 600's. I had 25 games between 225-299. My team bowled in the league championship, where I threw a 300. We won the championship.

Friday night league, we still haven't had our banquet, so no stat sheet. But we finished the league in first. I finished with a 212.x average. High series was a 744, high game was 278.

Congrats on the 300... heck of a time to throw it!

Thanks, we had won the first game in the series by about 30 pins, the 300 helped increase that lead to over 200 goin into the last game. It was good for a few $ in bonus money at the banquet, along with a nice pullover jacket from the bowling center.

Locked up 1st in the 10th frame of the 3rd game Friday night. Averaged the lowest since the late 1970's. Had a bowler get hot and carry the team the 2nd half he averaged 243+ in the 1st half he was 212. 300 the last game of the last night. My hero! MVP-MVP!

Our sweepstakes night is tonight so our last official week was last week. I ended at a 209 avg, which is on par from the last two seasons, but shy of my high season avg of 214. I plan on bowling in a singles PBA experience league this summer to help me hone in on hitting my mark more consistently. My hope is to come in next year and average 220+.

I just finished my Monday night league. We finished around the middle of the pack but over the season I got my average from 206 to 219. Finished 4 pins away from a 220 average which was my goal. I am in a thursday night mens league that I just filled in full time for 6 weeks ago. It still has 5 weeks left but I have a 220 average there. Over the summer I want to practice hitting spares straight on more and building an arsenal of bowling balls. I currently only have the Paradox and the Swerve fx. I want to add a dry oil ball soon and im thinking about getting the track heat. Hopefully I can keep getting better going forward and possibly join some tournaments in the future.

Also... first post wooo.

As a follow up--my banquet for Thursday night league served to solidify the decision to stop bowling in the league.

We won, and by quite a large margin over second place. We didn't do well enough in the second half to finish first again to negate the need for a rolloff, but we comfortably won. It's a 4-man league with 8 teams, $14 per week. My team, for winning, received less than $90 per man. The FOURTH PLACE team won just $27 TOTAL less than us. No way in hell I'm going back, that's absurd.

My Wednesday night scratch league, 5-man teams (6 total teams), $18 per week, netted each guy on my team $250. The last place team got about $115 per man.

Well I started my come back from a 12 year layoff and was only able to go 10 weeks before my Hip just got to bad. Since then have had my right hip replaced and left scheduled in oct. I could still throw the ball decent and had my average up to 194 after a weak first 3 weeks. This THS they put out seems easy compared to the shot from the early 2000's when I quit. My team ended up in second place which was nice. I will have to wait till late this year to start again. I was happy with my performance and I still got it. I will average 210-220 on this shot once my body heals up and can start practicing again. Steve

The Fall Goals thread was closed....the one league I was in on Mondays had a 100+ game season...which I'm not as used to...so it just wrapped up.

Goals for 2015 (fall winter):

1) Always throw a clean game and/or a 550+ series.
Definitely too lofty a goal. Only accomplished a 550+ 26 times out of 59 series.
2) Finish Fall/Winter in the top 20% of BOTH leagues in average.
Finished in the top 30% of Wednesday league and top 25% of the Monday league...but missed the mark a bit.
3) Increase my strike % from 37% to 55% or higher.
Definitely too lofty a goal. Finished with a 39%...only a slight improvement.
4) Increase single-pin spare shooting % from 76% to 83% or higher.
This was exceptionally disappointing...dropped from 76% to 72%.
5) Bowl a 266 (or higher) sanctioned game.
Barely hit this one with a 267 on 10/21/15.

I guess my goals for Summer Season, since I plan to just sub, will be versions of those above:

Goals for summer 2016:

1) Always bowl a 500 series or higher and at least one clean game per series.
2) Increase my strike % to 40% or higher.
3) Increase single-pin spare shooting % from 72% to 76% or higher.
4) Bowl a 270 (or higher) sanctioned game.
5) Finally bowl a 700 series or higher.

Averaged 187 on Wednesday nights (4 person mixed, more fun than competitive, although it can get quite competitive at times) and a 196 on Thursday night business men's (5 person team, very few women in the league, ultra competitive)

This is my first year bowling in the thursday league, and it's the first year of me bowling full time in such a serious league. I have bowled in previous years in a competitive travel league, but this year in that league I have only bowled part time, about 36 games out of 84, averaging 192. This summer I am the secretary of Wednesday night 3 person mixed league, and it's my first time trying out secretary. I'm excited though, because I know mostly everyone and my father is secretary of the normal fall Wednesday league and he will be helping me out. I will also be in 2 other leagues, for a total of 3 leagues in 2 different centers. One of the leagues is a gear league, so I will also be getting 2 brand new balls out of summer bowling, and hopefully I can improve my game and spare shooting enough to hit that 200 average across all leagues. It's going to take some work, and I've averaged 200 twice before during summer, but my goal I have set is to average 200 across at least two leagues for the full fall season.

Nice to read all the replies here. I love hearing about how other league bowlers seasons turned out! Always hate to see these longer 30 week + leagues come to an end for the summer, considering how few people bowl in the summer, but just another few months and we start it all back up again!

Damn! You must get an awesome deal from your center on lineage. Also, how many weeks? Only having 6 teams Is a bit lackluster, but that's just how league bowling is these days. This league in trying to run only had 6 teams show up on the first night and it's only 3 person teams! although, being 5 man teams and a scratch league, I can see why it is still fun! That's still a good haul for only $18 a week, I'm just really curious what your lineage is

Posted in my scores thread, but will post here as well since both leagues I am in are completed.

Average in 2 leagues 223.99 through 186 games. LY was 223.44
Tuesday night 227.60
Thursday night 219.37

High Game 300 on April 12
High Series 765 on April 26
Low series 542 on Jan 7
6 sub 600 series - 1 more than last year.
35 600+ series
21 700+ series - same as last year

First Ball Average 9.34
Strikes 62%
Spares 75% (549/732)
Single Pin spares 92% (404/438)
*10 pin 86% (178/205) LY was 91%
*4 pin 96% (60/62) LY as 96%
*9 pin 94% (47/50) LY was 100%
*6 pin 81% (9/11)

Multiple Pins(not including splits) 81% LY was 77%
* 3-6-10 81% (22/27)
* 6-10 91% (21/23)
* 2-8 84% (16/19)
* 3-6 60% (9/15)
* 2-4-5 70% (7/10)

Of my 183 total opens 115 of them were splits.

While I struck more, my spare conversions really hurt me. Of the 3 most single pin conversions that I have left the past 3 years (10 pin, 4 pin and 9 pin) I left it 40 less times this year and converted in total at only 89.9%.

My goals for next year are:
1. Work on 10 pin conversion to bring back into the 91%+ range.
2. Work on multi pin spares to bring up into 90% range.
3. No sub 600 series.
4. Few more 300's and 800 series to add to achievements.

We won 1st Place for the 1st time in a long time. 5 man team pay $21 a week for 33 weeks. My team got $950 each. The last place team got about $300 each. 24 teams.
