I know a bowling proprietor who says he has bowled 3 perfect games and 2 of those when he was drunk. I do believe him because he is one of the best bowlers at our alley.

Do you know anyone who has also accomplished the 300 while tanked?

Yeah. Not naming names for obvious reasons, but on our league's very first night, game three, lanes 1&2, el perfecto by a guy who couldn't walk straight. Even he couldn't believe he did it. Kept getting nervous, kept power drinking. Had to be driven home.

Threw 16 in a row gassed. Unfortunately, not all in one game.

Friend of mine shot 300 while polluted at Regal Lanes in Orange back in 1980. His girlfriend drove him there, he shot something like 115-300-153 then his girlfriend piled him back in the car and drove him home. He had no memory of even bowling so he didn't believe he shot 300.

I hope that's how I get mine! That would be the dream ;)

This thread is really sad! What a commentary about the sport by people who actually care enough about it to spend time posting on a bowling chat site.

Funny stuff there lol

One of the keys is a relaxed arm swing so being drunk may help I guess.

Saw a guy who averaged 168 at the time throw and I mean throw a 300 game stumbling the entire time. Between turns in the tenth he even went back to his table for a chug of beer just like any other frame. 212 is the closest he has come since.

How is it sad some people like to drink and bowl. I know I do some nights not all but some, I never drink till I'm buzzed. I take my bowling with a grain of salt you have good days and bad days you work to lower your bad days. some people like to drink and bowl and some don't.

My guess is 60-75% were over the legal driving limit. In most cases that isn't really drunk though. I don't know many people that bowl in leagues who don't have a little to drink. Many bowl better with a few in them as Jason said relaxes their arm.
All who drink are not equal some drink 2 beers and start slurring words others drink 10 beers and you would think they had only 2 beers. Tolerance is different in everyone.

I don't mind others drinking when bowling, I agree with you. But bowling while drunk is different. With that said, I do enjoy this post!

I've seen a couple thrown while people have been past the legal limit. If you took the drinking out of bowling you wouldn't have any leagues.

I never said that it is said that some people like to drink and bowl. I do it occasionally myself. What is sad is the idea of glorifying some idiot who drinks until he can't stand straight and then bowls a perfect game. Most people don't consider bowling a serious sport anyway, and behavior like this certainly doesn't say anything to prove them wrong.

Rob I'm with you 100% on that, but it's also kinda funny that some one can get that lucky at something that takes more skill then most outsiders would admit.

You don't have to be staggering or falling down to be drunk. My friend would get talkative and laugh a lot. I'm sure if he were to the point of being incapacitated his girlfriend would have never brought him. About the 3rd or 4th frame of his game he said something like "You know, I'm kind of lined up right now, wouldn't it be funny if I shot a 300?"

How is that different than glorifying some idiot who bowls a perfect game on a house condition?

Both cases seem to indicate the reduction in skill level required to achieve a perfect score.

RobLV1, no one is glorifying anything. Someone asked a question. People are answering the question. I was pissed when I watched that guy shoot 300 while he was plastered. No one here is bragging.

A very large percentage of 300 games are bowled by the same people who have done it before. They have the skill, knowledge and physical game to repeat it. A few drinks would help most bowlers relax and actually do better. The legal limit for most states is .08 maybe higher or lower in your state. It don't take many beers to get to that. It would depend on your size, age and how often you drink. As stated if a person is Drunk there is a lot of difference from a person who is a little tipsy or giggly. It has a lot to do with muscle memory. Repeating something over and over.
