Hello all. As I mentioned before, the center I bowl league at is getting a new pro shop and they are bring in a bowlingball demo via Brunswick. Balls to try include..

-Brunswick Mastermind and Fanatic
-DV8 Grudge Hybrid and Freakshow
-Radical Guru Limited Pearl

For $5 it's all you can bowl with these balls for 4 hours. I'm more of a Storm / Roto Grip guy, but willing to try anything. What should I expect from the demo?

Be ready to have fun!

Tip if you really like how one of the demos balls rolls and want to get one just like that one.

Find out the weight, top weight and pin to CG measurement so you can try to get one as close to that one as you can.

Take that demo ball into the proshop and have them measure out what that layout comes out too using your pap location. Take a picture of the ball to compare it to later just to make sure.

So you can get that layout put on the new one you buy. Because if you get another layout it won't react the same.

Plus be ready for the new one not to react exactly the same way even if you do that, because it will be drilled to your actual grip spec's so the fit will be just a little different and the surface will be new compared to the used demo ball surface. Especially if they altered the demo balls oob surface before hand, .

The demos I have been to have varied. Some only had basic layouts while others had more of a variety. So look to see if they have some different layouts and if so, give as many as possible with the same ball a try. You never know when you can stumble upon something that will help you.

Just back from the ball demo. The new pro shop guy is on the radical staff. So it was $5 to bowland can bowl from 6-10pm on a house shot or pro shot. Balls included:

Brunswick: Fanatic and Mastermind Strategy
DV8: Freakshoe and Grudge Hybrid
Radical: Guru Pearl Limited

I stayed for an hour and a half and the two balls that's I used the most were the Fanatic and Grudge.
The Grudge just killed the pins and gave me a lot of room for mistakes with it making back to the pocket. Highly thinking about getting this ball for league. Will be great for the first ball out of the bag, really eats up the oil. I shot 10 straight with this ball. The Fanatic would be a great compliment to the Grudge. Really love the shape of the ball when it's going down lane. Has a late break on it. Many time I thought there was no way for it to get to the pocket but it sure did. The Freakshow is a good ball when the lanes dry up. Mastermind Strategy was also a ball I liked a lot. Nice shape on the ball and hits hard. Spent little time with the Guru. If I had to rank these balls from favorite to lead favorite it would be 1) Grudge Hybrid 2) Fanatic 3) Mastermind Strategy 4) Freakshow 5) Guru Pearl Limited

I have never been to a ball demo, but would love to try one out. Are they mostly held in the Fall?

that's interesting, I've never herd of a demo like that. Are these balls just drilled and you have to find one that fits? The Grudge sounds like a nice ball.

They have different spans drilled on different weights of balls and simply use IT insert for the fingers and thumbs.

They never seem to have demos around me. Would love to try one sometime though. Guess I may need to travel a bit to try one.

There was a Storm demo last year at Poelking South. Tell Jerry to get one at Thunderbowl lol

Storm comes to central FL a couple times a year it seems. If you have a Storm VIP shop in your area ask them about them.
