Abralon pads - by hand, Does it a difference?

Posted this on another thread too. Is it really possible to use abralon pads by hand and make a difference in the ball surface in the few minutes you might have before league or tournament bowling? What do you do if you see someone using these during a tournament. Don't think I would care during a league but I might.

Things have been getting better but still confused about these abrasive pads.

Of course it will make difference! you can change surface in less than a minute.




What do you do if you see someone using these during a tournament.

You either turn them in to a official or don't

The amount of oil in the ball will affect the overall performance of the ball, but making surface changes will still have a significant effect in changing the reaction. Changing surface, however, will not bring a saturated ball back.

The amount of oil already in the ball could block the ball's ability to absorb more oil.

That would require you to take extra effort to remove the oil on the surface of the ball before each shot.

If you are wiping the ball down, surface changes will respond as normal.

You just can't get lazy and forget to wipe the ball clean each time.
