View Full Version : Dry lanes, what would you choose?

If you were looking for a ball to use late in tournaments when the shot is burned, what would you pick? A urethane ball with stronger weight block, or a lower end reactive with low diff and cover that's not as aggressive (like tropical storm for example)?

Would like to see what the Brunswick Fanatic BTU would do on the burn. Straight urethane won't allow you to chase the shot inside. Could go with a low-end ball with a tall core that will get downlane a good ways before turning.

As long as there is some oil remaining on the middle part of the lane, I would recommend going to a stronger, earlier rolling ball that will start to hook earlier, before the burn, and has the strength to make it back to the pocket. I find the Storm Snap Locks works really well in this situation.

Looking at lanes with upwards of 70 games on them. Shot starts as the pba chameleon and ends as something really ugly lol it usually keeps its OOB down lane if you get too far out but the inside is usually toast. Threw a joy ride last time.

Well pairs with upwards of 70, so each lane around 35ish

Personally I'd probably try a weak pearl reactive to get through the chewed up heads over a urethane, but burned lanes are what I tend to struggle most on.

Me Wednesday night league end up as toast by game 3 due to many high rev player throwing dull stuff. The pearl urethane Rebel Tank hooked too soon to be effective. I just picked up a plastic with a core ( Taboo spare ) to combat those conditions.

Depends on what you mean by burnt. If there is still oil on the heads move left and go stronger with the ball. If the heads are dryed up it's really limited with what you can do best option is a less aggressive ball say a rhino or breeze and do the best you can.

Loft to the arrows or beyond :)

Burnt as in 70 games of tournament bowling per pair. That's before you get on the lanes to bowl. Heads are fried at that point.

If I hit burned up heads I personally loft the left gutter cap and throw
a stronger ball out to the right side that will turn the corner down lane
and then I just hope for the best.

There was still an out of bounds outside. Too far out and you're taking 3 off the right.

This is exactly where I pull out my Taboo Spare works well on the very dry

That is the way our lanes are all of the time fresh shot or burned
if you get outside of the 6th board on either side then you can
forget about hitting the pocket you will be lucky to take out the
3-6-10 sometimes you'll just hit the 6-10 or even worse the gutter.
