Start of new season. Bowling semi-competitive 5 person league this year on Wednesdays

Not too many strikes but was happy with spare game. Used my Ebonite Cyclone for most of the night. Kind of got away (as far as approach/release) in games 2 and 3. Need to remind myself to slow down.

Our team has a few 210+ bowlers so should be interesting season as they won't have much if any handicap.

Overall not a bad night for me personally. I felt good and had mostly pocket shots although not enough carry as I didn't strike as much as I would have preferred.

We lost all points because it was an uphill battle from the start with high handicap difference. As a team we have around 130 pins. The other team had 480+. We lost first game by 100, second and third by 15 or 20 pins only.

They all bowled above their averages. 120 bowlers bowling 160. Hard to win with that stacked against you.

Not too many strikes but I considered it a decent night with good spare game. Picked up tricky 4-9 split among others.

Not happy with overall game but glad I was able to convert most spares. Bad tenth frame one last game prevented me from getting at least one 200 game

You know you had a hard time finding the pocket when you had more than double multi pin leaves than single (15 vs 7)

An ominous start. Used Haywire first game. After switching to 900 Global Respect for games 2 and 3 finally realized why I sucked first game: thumb hole was a bit too loose but didn't realize it at the time. I was tugging and muscled most shots first game. Even missed a 6 pin. Finally threw the Respect 10th frame of first game and hand was so relaxed and ball just rolling off my hand. Hitting myself for not recognizing the issue and adding tape or just switching balls sooner. Learning experience.

Luckily two of my teammates had monster games (240+) so we eacked out a win. Got all 7 points last night

Interesting night. Starting warming up and everyone starts noticing the balls basically hooking into left gutter. Can't keep right of pocket. 10 minutes in we all get called into the bar and they tell us the lanes weren't oiled. They try to oil them but find out mechanic put fluid in wrong compartments (oil in conditioner, etc). So they will have to flush the machine but that will take all night.

So we had option to postpone the league night or bowl as is. Most people agree to just bowl because everyone is basically bowling on same conditions.

First game started out with Cyclone seeing as that was my least aggressive ball but wasn't feeling it so switched to my polished Haywire mid first game and throughout and figured out my line.

Had to adjust for new lane conditions so tried rolling it with more end-over-end roll and had pretty good pocket shots. Moved 4-5 boards left also.

After a while got comfortable. If anything it was a learning experience and let me experiment with new release.

Also saved by having only 1 split tonight. Usually I get 3-4

First use of newly drilled Hammer Scandal ball (from Get Your Gear League from Summer). OOB was 500/2000 and just wasn't feeling right in open play. So before league had it sanded to 2000/4000 and felt a lot better. Seemed to store more energy.

I have to say this might be my new favorite ball. Had the Snap Lock drilled a few months ago and could never make it work for me.

Left three 9 pins also. Two of them in the last game. Good pocket shots though. I'm just glad I didn't leave any splits.

We got first in our league of 10 teams (small league). Last night was last week of season. We were in first place and played second place team. We were up by 1/2 point going into the night. They took first game. We came back and took second and last game as well as total pinfall to take 3 out of 4 points securing first place.

I was up and down all year. Range of games from 300 to 133 and series from 726 to 465.

20/44 on 10 pin for 45%. Need to work on 10 pins and multi pins

This is what happens when you go on vacation. You forget to bowl and end up leaving easy spare conversions and multiple splits. But to be fair I kind of tweaked my ankle between 1st and 2nd game but still no excuse for that performance.

It was feast or famine night. If it wasn't a strike it was an open. Not too many spare conversions. (11 opens to 5 spare conversions)

I'm hovering around 197-198. My goal is to get to 200 by end of season. With each passing week I will need to start getting higher series to move up my average. Hopefully these slumps will be over or at least not rear it's ugly head as often.

The struggle is real. Only 8 strikes all night. It was all mental and never felt good with release. Funny thing is I bowled in a fun league the night below and got all 200+ games.
It's confusing that some nights the release feels fine, then the next week...you can't do anything right.


Surprisingly we got all 7 points last night in spite of me.
Also funny how sometimes that happens...and it's FAR better than being the one that COST the team 7 points.

Felt good all night. Release was working for me. I was in the pocket most of the night. Only one cheap strike. What helped was getting good 10th frames (which is unusual for me)

I opened first frame of first game and then clean all the way through. Didn't realize it until I looked back at my game graph on PinPal app. Second time I have been one frame away from clean. This one just happened to occur at beginning of game.

Everyone on our team shot 600+ series scratch and took all 7 points. Places 2-7 are within 1 point of each other so depending on how other teams beat each other up we should be in second place next week.

That split (4-6-7-10) in 9th frame of first game killed my average. Judging from what PinPal was estimating I lost 27 pins with that open vs a strike. But otherwise felt good with release. I think I'm finally getting it down where it will be consistent week to week.

We took 5/7 points and comfortably in second place. It will be tough to catch first place team. They held a 13 point lead going into last night.

That's me every night, haha. I just started getting into bowling recently and got my first ball last month. Some games I'll string a few strikes together and then I'll miss one and feel something needs correcting and fight that battle getting back to a comfortable release a lonnnnng time.

Fourth straight 600 series.

Good night. Clean first and last game. Bad second game.

I think the key now is not so much get high game scores but try to salvage those bad frames and bad games. There seems to always be a turd in there but I'll take 179 over the 140-150's I used to get when things weren't going well.

In that second game had 4-7-10 split, missed 2-4-5 and inexplicably missed a single 2 pin (along with missed 10 pin fill ball) but had enough strikes in the other frames to salvage the game.

We took another 7 points. Key is to separate us from 3rd place team. I think top team gets $450/per bowler. 2nd gets $400 and 3rd gets $350. Not bad.

Very consistent night. Didn't really string strikes together but picked enough to keep scores respectable. Three splits in second game and still 194, I'm ok with that.

We took 5/7 points and solidly in second place. Two more weeks to go in the season.

Second game seems to be the one where my head is in the toilet. My second game scores last few weeks (184, 194, 167, 169, 179, 199). In that stretch consistently over 200 the other games

We did take 5/7 points and locked into second place. Can't overtake first place and can't drop to third. Guess final position round next week is for fun.

I just wonder because usually when I've seen higher scores/averages...and really, really low corner-pin conversion...that's the case.

Collected our winnings last night. Finished second so winnings were $2,015 ($403 per bowler). Add another $25/bowler for highest team handicap game. Not bad, almost paid for league. Now have to use that money to pay off credit cards :(

The high game vs. low game makes sense. I've shot a 267 and 127 in the same season. But 50%!? That's...NOT good...especially for a 1-hander with thumb in the ball. The only time I can think that makes sense...is I once bowled with an elderly lefty who threw a low-weight ball and she had a terribly low ball speed. So she literally couldn't keep the ball from hooking away from the pin.

NTB...get a lesson from a nearby pro and have them focus the entire lesson on spare shooting and making that 10-pin. Gotta get that to at least 65% by next report!!
