Needed a few balls resurfaced, and it wasn't that much more - so went ahead and purchased a 1/3 HP Vertex Spinner. Looking forward to getting some good use out of it. From the last few threads here and some of the stuff of read elsewhere, the 1/3 should be sufficient for home use, so hoping I made the right choice.

I'm jealous.
Keep us posted on how you like your new tool...

The 1/3 hp spinner will be just fine for what you want to do I
have resurfaced quite a few balls with mine and I have never
had a problem with it.
I've never had it bog down/slow down when surfacing a ball
even when cutting it way down to get the cuts scratches out
of it.

I went with the 1/2 horse because it was only another $20 at the time. A 1/3 horse will do just fine. Just write down any changes to any balls you have to keep track. You can buy Abralon pads on eBay for cheap too. Look them up

Yeah, I have a lot at abralon - doing less by hand will be nice. It was tempting to go with the 1/2 hp - but I couldn't really justify the need.

I will say if you use water while hitting your bowling balls with the Abralon pads, wear clothes you don't care about. You WILL get wet!

I use a small plastic storage tub from purchased at Wal-Mart to keep it in. Contains all the compounds, water and most of the dust.

My 1/3 hp is over 10 years old, used to be in a sink in the garage at the hold house - just like the shop set up. Now at the new house, a $5 rubber maid bin houses the spinner. It keeps the polishes, rags, pads, spray bottle, cleaners, and my stash of KitKat. Damn kids.... lol
The only issue I see with my vertex, the shaft and the ball cup are molded together. If these two separate, there's no way to fix it unless you MacGyver the thing together.

I use one of these with my ball spinner Flower Pot Splash Guard (http://www.vertexbowling.com/Flower-Pot-Splash-Guard-ibp-flowerpot.htm) as it
keeps all of the dust and splash inside of it and it really helps to keep
the clothes, walls, etc., etc. clean.

I have some tubs laying around, so I plan on seeing what fits best. I have a workshop in my garage where I plan to keep it (no sink, but I built a nice workbench when we moved here). If I find a good spot that doesn't interfere with my other stuff, perhaps I will use some scrap wood and build a little station at a convenient elevation. Either way, I should have the spinner on Thursday and then then fun begins.

Years ago I used plywood to build a box for one spinner. My box had a drop down panel for easy cleaning because I also routed the plugs off balls while they were in the spinner bowl, then scraped and finished the ball.

That's a nice accessory. A little pricey though. For my spinner, I just went to Home Depot and got an appropriately sized flower pot and cut out the bottom to fit the ball cup. I then notched out the drip base that came with it to fit the shaft of the cup and sealed it with some silicone. About 15 bucks total.

Very clever.

It is tempting to just add a sink. My house is on a crawl and the garage is connected - but on a slab and sits below the first floor of the house. So plumbing it would be really easy, and I've wanted one for non-bowling reasons as well. Too many projects in the queue though.
