It's way too early in the season to celebrate anything seriously, but my team is in first place alone for the first time since I've started back bowling in 2014. We are 30-12 after 7 weeks. Our highest finish for any half is 12th.

Great job! Now the real work begins, you got to hold it.

Glad my team stepped up to carry me tonite. I started with a 159 with three pocket 7-10's. I had 5 pocket 7-10's tonite total, which included one in my 238 the last game.
Over the last 4 weeks my team is 26-2.

Damn 5 7-10's in one night..........that's insane.

Just one of those nights. I never missed the pocket in game one or two, shot 159, 191. Couple of crummy shots in game 3 but carried better including throwing the last 6 in a row. 238. Go figure.

I love that feeling of being in first, then the sinking feeling that you have to keep out doing your self to hold onto that not so much. But that's what will drive you to do better and the thrill of competition kicks in as soon as that first ball is released. Great job and keep grinding.

We replaced one bowler from last year to get another one with a higher average to boost us up, but we are in first despite of him. In one other league he's averaging 210. With us he's averaging around 170. 7 weeks in and he can't figure out the shot. THS but on 50 year old wooden lanes where the shot dries up and makes you move left all night. He just can't get it going yet.

That is the good thing about being in last place........ no body is chasing you
trying to take your spot away when you are in last place. LOL!!!!!!

We bowled the only team that spots us pins last night. Lost the first game by 42 sticks. Then we turned in on and won games two and three by over 100 pins scratch. Hopefully we stayed in first since we were only up by a point.

Have to give kudos to the bowler I talked about earlier in this thread. After struggling all season with a high game of 200, he beat that twice and shot 650.

You mean the guy averaging 170, who the previous year had averaged 210?

Maybe the problem wasn't with the conditions, he might have simply been in a severe slump.

Actually he's averaging 170 in our league while averaging 210 at another house on Saturday. He kept saying his equipment was too aggressive but it was really a matter of ball speed. He ramped it up and BOOM!

A couple of weeks ago, we were in first, too, and bowled a team that won the league last year. One of their guys, with a 160-something average, shoots 701 scratch, including a game with the first 9 (279). We lost all points that night.

The difference between first and last place money-wise is $20/bowler. Winning is for bragging rights. Still want to win though !

Last week we had a 100 average bowler who has been bowling for about a month bowl a 192 against us. BRUTAL!

No longer in first place after tonite. We were up by 1/2 game over 2nd place and 1 game over third. We bowled the 3rd place team and lost 5 points and won 2. I bowled against the top bowler in the league. He beat me 724 to 698 scratch. They shot 1150 and 1102 scratch the first two games. We had a bowler not even show up tonite, no phone call or text until game 2 to find he is in Nashville,TN. One of our teammates hobbled in with a bad back and shot 489. Told him to just go home but he wanted to try. Can't blame him for that.
Get em next week I guess

To win the league, you don't need to lead the most laps, just lead at the conclusion of the last one.

That's true. Just don't want the team to go into another 0-28 tailspin line last year. I shot 698 and our leadoff bowler shot 650 but we can't carry a 5 man team like that.

We lost the lead this past week as well that we had the first 6 weeks. I take blame for our first game shooting almost 20 pins under the handicap. Lost game 1&2 but took 3 & total. Second place swept and now leads us by 2 with one week left before the position rd for the first quarter.
