Well if you got hernia pain from a 11 pound ball. I'd go to the doctor and get checked for a hernia and have it fixed or at least get a hernia belt, before worrying about what bowling ball to use.

Let's see:
Asperger's
weak arms
poor coordination
poor motor skill's

and you want a PBA card and be a coach.

Sounds like chess may be a better game to start looking into playing. You're falling apart

I would say stick with the 10 pound ball (I think that's your normal ball weight?), enjoy the game the way that you like to. Try to be the best that YOU can be at it, and don't worry about being better than other people.

Yeah stick with a ball you can throw accurately and correctly. No sense stepping up weight if you cant handle it. I personally throw a 14 pound ball. I tried a 15 or 16 but just couldnt get them to roll like I wanted.

does ball drilling reduce much overall weight?

This post reminds me of an old joke my dad told me when I was a kid...

Did you hear about the 100 lb midget with 50 lb balls? He says he's half nuts!

As bad as that is, do have a friend who is a little person, and he actually spit his beer out while listening to it.

While ball weight does help with carry up to a certain point it's not worth your health. Less than average strength, motor skills and coordination are common with Asperger's. None of that means you can't still enjoy the sport. It will take you longer to get where you expect but given the disease you've had your whole life it's just another obstacle. See your doctor about the hernia first. As simple as a hernia sounds you don't want it to get worse because it can cause some real life threatening problems.

A man goes to see his doctor and says ‘Doc, it hurts when I do this” and the doctor says “Then don’t do that”

i'm not sure of the origination, I recall seeing the Marx brothers doing it.

I think I throw a 13, can't remember, the next one I get should I try going up in weight? I want to have more pin action and carry and think that might help. I'm also using the retired Ebonite Total NV as my strike ball and Hammer Arson Low Flare Pearl when lanes dry up. I also probably need to have my NV resurfaced since I've never had it done (also want to know if that will help with action)

In choosing bowling balls you want to be like Goldilocks and get ones that are just right. From a coach's viewpoint the fit is most important followed closely by weight. After those two conditions are met than one can worry having a core, coverstock material and surface texture that match up well with your delivery technique and the lane conditions that you bowl on.

One way of figuring out what the correct weight is for you is to pick up a house ball of weight you're thinking of. Let your arm hang at your side and then cup your wrist and try to hold that position for 10 seconds. If you can't, it's too heavy. If you can do it with very little effort you might want to try one another pound heavier.

Every time you roll the ball it affects the surface of the ball. After a certain number of games, all balls wind up having the same surface in the track area, so it's always a good idea to resurface occasionally. However, it is highly recommended by almost all coaches that all your bowling balls be the same weight, give or take a few ounces. You might want to wait until you can afford to replace both balls.

I have #12 & #14 equipment, and it all depends on how I'm feeling physically as to what I'm going to use. There are also times when lane conditions dictate what ball to use as well.

My VDZ, original Vandal and Thug Unruly are the 12's. The VDZ & Vandal are both 500 w/compound, but they are drilled differently and have very different reactions. The Thug Unruly is at 2000. All 3 have their place when it comes to conditions and/or how I'm feeling.

The 14's are my BTU, Ultimate Nirvana and Vandal Smash. The UN & Smash are both at 4000 while the BTU is at 1500.

Depending on the length of the pattern and the volume of oil, I tend to start with the UN or Smash. Both are very versatile, but the Smash doesn't over react to friction.

For short and short sport, I like to start with the VDZ because it was drilled specifically for these types of patterns. When the oil gets carried down to the back ends, the BTU works best because of its very slow and predictable path to the pocket.

This is the reason the 10 minutes of practice is very vital. Making a determination as to which ball is going to be best for the conditions is crucial. It also shows you where the other bowlers are going to target so that you can make the proper adjustments as to your own target and what ball to use.

So I just recently bought two new balls and went up in weight. I found out that my other two were in fact 14# so I didn't make a huge increase. One is a plastic spare ball (T-Zone), which I desperately needed and the other is a Radical Ridiculous Asym; now my new strike ball. I had Turbo switch grips installed on the Radical and will also have it on the other two previous mentioned balls. Thank you for the insight for future endeavors!!

I don't have anything from Radical yet, but my PSO has strongly suggested getting the Ridiculous Asym before it goes away. I doubt I'll be able to though because I have 2 others I'm locked in on.

Mine had this sitting in the welcome cabinet when you walk in the alley. He suggested this as a first to get into a dull coverstock, asymmetrical. I was on edge about it versus waiting a day and getting the DV8 Grudge for like $40 more, I'm glad I decided to go with that one and then see what something else will do in the future.

I agree with your choice on getting the Ridiculous Asym, only because I think the original Grudge is too much for a house shot because you need to change the cover on it, much like the Pit Bull.

I see a lot of the Ridiculous Asyms here in Vegas and everybody that has one is glad they got it.
