Current average for this league is 155. Shot 255 game two....we lost by 200 lol
My average should be closer to 160 ( big difference I know lol... I had a bad night last week)
Guy on my team told me to change balls in the 6th frame of game one. Finally did in the 8th for a strike. Needs that and the ninth to double for a 125 game one lol. Should have listened earlier.
Game two started stone 8 then 6 in a row (one jersey) and kept it clean. After I got the first strike in the tenth I realized I had a shot to beat my previous high (252). Buckled down and hit the next one, then left a weak 10 the last shot for 255.
This was a weird night where our pair saw mostly the other team carry Brooklyn/jersey over and over again as well as a few times the ball washed out missed the headpin for a 3-6 area and multiple pins would fall forward and get the strike.
My one friend a few pairs down shout 453 and he averages 190-210 range. Tons of splits down there.
Also...I shot 159 the last game for a 539 lol

Awesome! Way to go! I believe you get a small award if your league gives them out. Keep it going!

I started with my ebonite warrior. Teammate mentioned it was too aggressive and I should go back to my old ball. So end of the first game I switched back to the virtual energy. That's what I shot the 255 with. That's my first ball I got like 7 years ago. As much as I try to get away from it and retire the thing I seem to keep coming back to it. Definatly has a certain sentimental and comfort feel to it

That's awesome!!! congrats!
We used to get pins for rewards from USBC and I used to collect them. I miss those pins..we get patches now, I think..

Yea idk if I'll get anything. My one friend who has bowled for years in this area and at this house, shot his first 300 a few weeks ago and didn't even get a shoutout on the sheets. I'll probably be listed on the highe game sheet for the week but that's it.
Side note. Guy on the other team as a sub firm Wednesday night league averaging in the 170's had the front 7 and made two splits to stay clean Im game two, shot 254,so I beat that bastard by one pin lol

Give it time I beg it will come if your good enough.
I have no delusions about a 300 anytime soon. My goals are to slowly raise my average and be respectable lol.
If I can occasionally raise the bar on my personal high game that's great.

Congrats on a great game my high is 268 and I average quite a bit higher than you so you really threw it good. At least in my leagues the high handicap game for the year is usually a $100 dollar award. I would think that should put you in the running for it at the very least.

The USBC only gives out awards for 300's & 800's and then only if it your first ever.
Your local assn. probably gives out awards for other things. In our assn. for a 100 pins over game you get a bowling towel with the assn. name on it MDUSBC and 100 PINS OVER.

Didn't even think about a reward of some kind. Lookin at last weeks sheet, our league only lists high scratch game and series numbers, nothing listed for top handicap scores

All leagues are different most handicap leagues I've bowled on have offered something but yours may be different.

Most local Assn.'s give away some kind of trinkets for lower average bowlers. Unless the secretary is too lazy to turn in the paper work.
Any league that is a H\C league should have some recognition for high game and series for teams. Depends on how the averages are. We don't list individual highs and only pay team game and series at end of the year. Individual stuff is scratch. They must have 2/3 of the games or tough stuff.

Someone from NY moved to Florida... how rare is that.
One of the most common things to hear is Florida is... "Thats not how we did things in NY."

Well, this made me curious so I looked it up and what I found is that people from New York would call it Jersey as in "crossing the river into Jersey" where people from Jersey would call it in Brooklyn as in "crossing the river into Brooklyn." For some reason the rest of the country adopted the term Brooklyn and only New Yorkers use the term Jersey.

Years ago I was bowling in a tournament in Buffalo NY.
I threw a shot that started to cross over, and I was about to say "Brooklyn" but since I was in NY, it was quite likely someone there could have been from Brooklyn so instead I said "Rubidoux"

It's across the "river" from Riverside.
It's not really a river. I've actually ran across it (my high school days) since it's mostly dry, and where there was water, I could hop across.

Yea it's always a jersey around here. We are a few miles south of philly so we are close to the jersey border so I guess that's why

Yep folks in the Philly area and NYers call it Jersey most other places have adopted Brooklyn for some reason. I used to live in Brooklyn so naturally I said Jersey but now I live in Jersey so I say Brooklyn now. =P

the oil is inconsistent, each pair plays different as well. I guess the best way to avoid all that is to rugby throw it down the center of the lane and take the oil out of the equation.

Hmm...maybe it depends on the part of NYC, since Queens doesn't border Jersey. When I lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn I mostly heard it called Jersey.

Only took me 61 years to find this out....lol.... The best was the Jersey mixer, which of course is a light 1-2 hit that mixes up the pins...lol.. I still say C'mon....JERSEY sometimes in the heat of the moment....haha

I bowled in Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island and it was always Jersey anywhere. If I remember correctly when the Tour was on TV on Sunday afternoon 40 years ago they also called crossing over Brooklyn. Down here they laugh when I yell Jersey and if I go through the nose they ask and I say that was Connecticut...lol
