View Full Version : Ball not reading backend
I go to two different establishments and ball reads the back end with total control at one place, and then the other it don't do nothing. Does the ball need more surface at that one house or is it they buff the hell out of the back ends anyone experience this how would you remedy this.

Sounds like you need a ball to play each condition.
I try to adjust my line and go for the 1,5,9 strike ball.

What's the ball? Curious.

it's hard to give a good answer when not enough information is given.

You need to clarify this a bit more since there are two possible causes for what you're experiencing.
1) The ball doesn't read the back end because there isn't any friction in the back end to be read.
If this is the case, increasing ball surface may help, but it's still going to be tough.
2) The ball has already read as much of the lane it has the ability to read, and is in the roll phase before reaching the back end.
If this is the case, you're better off polishing the ball to delay when the ball reads the lane.
Thanks to everyone that replied. I totally appreciate it, the ball is a rebel and my ball speed is around 15.5 what is the basic pad number to lightly scuff it up. I will stop by the pro shop after in the morning. The place my ball does fine at is expensive to bowl the place it does lousy is cheap..Once again everyone's help is totally appreciated... Hawk.

You may want another ball. It sounds like you'd be altering the surface of one ball all of the time.

If you fix the ball to the bad reaction house what will you do in the house where the ball works? Sounds like you need a ball for each
add to the arsenal. You may want to ask your PSO to get you a ball that rolls differently than what you already have. If your current ball is long then you need something that reads early. If you current ball reads early then you need to add a ball that will go longer before it picks up.
Just to clarify what everyone has said about adding a ball but giving you a bit more info.
Thanks I'm having a thumb issue at the moment might be a bad fit and ball wont do what i want it too.

You may just be burning it up early in the one house. Being that the Rebel is a solid at 500/1000 abralon, I'm assuming this is exactly what is happening. Your best bet is to try something pearl or polished to get the reaction you are looking for. I'm not a fan of solid or dull balls myself as I get weird over/under reactions out of them as they try to read early. Most of my equipment is pearl and symmetrical. I've tried to broaden my arsenal though. Currently in the bag/locker I have a Phaze II, which is a solid at 3000 (which I won on here btw), a Phaze (3000 polished), Street Fight (3000 sheen + added light polish), and a Pitch Blue (Pearl Urethane). My suggestion, try something pearl. I think you'll be amazed with the reaction you get when the ball doesn't burn itself up
