I love the freshly oiled lanes it is when they start breaking down that I have trouble.

Try throwing the same shot but move up 6 inches on the approach. I have no idea if this will work with your style, but more often than not it works for me.

do i need a 14 pound ball or would a 12 pound ball faster help?

See I'd say hurl the ball all 60 feet. You won't worry about the oil that way. Just make sure you don't hit the deck above the pins.
