So I picked up a Brunswick Fanatic BTU because I needed an option for when the lanes got really burned up- which happens, but not often.
The surface was left at OOB (500/1500). The pin is right of the ring finger with CG just left of grip.
When I got the ball drilled, I was talking with the PSO about it, because I've always thrown reactive resin and wasn't sure what exactly to expect. Basically he told me this would be a straight up the lane and in ball, which is what I assumed.
I had a chance to throw a few extra warm up balls last night in league and made the decision to start the night with the BTU, something I didn't think I'd do on this THS.
I played inside all night and barely made any adjustments across all three games. Not moving or not moving much was expected with this ball, but playing inside was a huge surprise.
I threw the ball well but didn't score great, just okay. The important thing I look at is 22/35 strikes (62%), which is a few percentage points above average. I had 4 big splits in the first two games which was on me, not the ball, and the last game I lost carry on the left lane.
The reason for my post is I'm not sure what to do. I probably could have thrown a combination of my Ridiculous balls all night and shot/scored just as well. I don't need another ball that does more of the same. The purpose of the BTU was to have a ball for burned up lanes, but this ball is just as aggressive as my other two balls. I'm not sure how the BTU will react on actual burned up lanes (only two of us played inside last night).
Since I didn't really move all night, is this the same line I can play on dry lanes? Should I make a surface adjustment? Should the ball have been laid out differently? Should I wait and see? Anybody else have experience with this ball?
