I don't remember if AMF still does it, but we get 3 free games a week. Then it's $2.39 a game. There is one day a week when bowling is unlimited for $11.
At a privately owned house, it's $1.50 a game for non league bowlers early weekends and $0.50 for league bowlers.
At a house I used to bowl at, Shadow bowling (bowling without pins) was a buck an hour. The best practice sessions came without pins lol....
Anyway, I was just wondering what prices are like across the country...
I'm in California

NorCal here and practice for league bowlers is $1.50 a game and about $3.50 a game for non-league bowlers.
I once joined a short bowling league (12-14 weeks) and we got 3 free games a week out of it, but maybe that was just a one time deal because I've never seen it happen again.

I bowl at a Brunswick Zone here in NJ and I get 2 free games per league with a max of 4 games and then it's $3.99/game for league but I usually come after 9PM on weekdays to take advantage of the specials, either $2/game or $8 for 2 hours depending on the day.

There are few places here in Vegas where you can bowl for $1/game during the day, and most of them between midnight & 8am.
I have also been very fortunate to have made some friends here, and there are times I can bowl for nothing, but I never bowl more than 3 practice games.

LI, NY- AMF league bowlers get 2 free games per week with a 4 game max. One house is $2.35/GM & the other I use is $2.90/GM league member rates. Non league rate is about $4.50/GM weekdays and over $5 on weekends. 2 private houses I bowl at have various specials like $2/GM on fresh oil Sunday mornings.
The most I pay is 2.00 a game, they also have specials, 7.00 for unlimited bowling, or 5.00 cover and all games are .25.
I am usually able to bowl on fresh oil.

Hamilton, Ontario, Canada - costs me anywhere from $3.00-$5.50 per game depending on the house and time of day. A few places have a special for 2 hours of bowling for up to six people for $20-$30 (but who wants to bowl with six people on one lane).
Usually in the summer you can get 2 hours of bowling for $7-$8 per person.

In San Antonio, at a house that really caters to leagues, practice games are $1.50 each for league bowlers. I'm not sure what other places charge, but I haven't heard of any places that offer league bowlers much of a discount for practice games. there are several that offer specials like college nights, 2hrs for 20 bucks, etc., but they are not specific to leagues.

Keep telling the owners where I bowl league to give league bowlers a break on open bowling costs and more league bowlers would practice. Then once they are bowling many would buy food and/or drinks and they'd make more money. They look at me like I'm from mars. So I practice elsewhere all the time.

My business model would be to offer dirt cheap rates for league bowlers during the weekdays (open till 3-4pm). Most of the time the alleys are dead during these times so why not entice people to come in and bowl. 50% of 20 bowlers is better than 100% of 0

My one league offers 3 free games per week for league bowlers then $1 a game if started before 6:00. My other league is supposedly $1 per game for league bowlers but they rarely charge me at all. The other two houses in the area charge from $2-$2.50 for league bowler practice. One other house in the area charges league bowlers full price for practice. Wonder why I never even walk in the door there.

Our center charges league bowlers $1.25 per game any day or
night of the week or you can also rent a lane(s) for $10.00 per
person on a Tuesday or Sunday for 2hrs. with unlimited games.
Back several years ago when the other owner owned the center
and I worked in and help manage the Pro Shop I received unlimited
free practice games and free league linage all I had to pay was just
whatever the prize fund amount was.
Now we have had 2 different owners in the last couple of years and
I no longer help out in the shop so now unfortunately I have to pay
more to bowl league and practice. :(
