We all know PDW where's golf gloves, but who else here wears non bowling gloves?

I've seen a guy wearing receivers gloves - football gloves. He cut the hole for his thumb. I found these gloves really tacky.....

what kind of glove/brand do you use?

just helping a friend out....thanks

I use the Brunswick glove, that's tacky. Used to use the Ebonite brand, and was going through two a season. Since I switched, one lasts me a season and a half.

I've tried a Ebonite one years back and also I made made own one time. I used a golf I think it was and used a bottle of liquid vinyl to make the tacky part, with so so results.

Of the bowling ones you can buy, the Elite Talon is supposed to be one of the tackiest (I haven't tried one), It's supposed to use the same material as a receivers glove.

What does the tackiness of the glove do for a bowler?

For the most part, it's supposed to provide a better grip on the ball. Which IMO in turn would conceivably help you have a more relaxed grip (with your M/R fingers and thumb). Because the rest of your hand is helping support the ball more.

I believe also (at least back in the day) it was supposed to help you get some more turn on the ball. Because the outside fingers could "grip" the surface also.

One thing with tacky gloves is ,you have to wipe the ball off. If the ball gets oily on the surface, you can loose the tacky feel (at least on some gloves)

I used to wear gloves and I did noticed a much more relaxed hand. With a relaxed hand rid of tension, it can add revs. But not from 300 to 350 of course.

People with sweaty hands, or those looking to for protection too, wear these gloves. And there are some who wear gloves because the are just used to it and servers no purpose.

I stopped wearing gloves, especially during the summer, because my thumb would swell up faster than without gloves. But it helped, I would develop a callous below my index finger and used the glove for protection.

There is a lefty here that uses a batting glove and its weird as hell. Never used them, although I do go through some rosin from time to time to get my hand to dry out. Just gotta know when too much is too much or I'll end up splitting my fingers open

I wish Iceman were here...to attack this post for it's obvious attempts to cheat by adding gloves or braces or anything else to the game.

Here, here Iceman.

If I see some young kid wearing batting gloves...it just makes me want to beat them...at bowling.
