View Full Version : Any hobbies or sports that you love as much as bowling?
It is amazing that through the years how many different types of people I have met that love the sport of bowling as much as I do. Not only that but the other things they love outside of bowling. so are there any sports or hobbies that you love as much or even more than bowling?
For me I love Nascar (even play fantasy leagues and pools), Basketball and Hunting and Fishing.

I have been bowling on and off for 40 years, mostly on. I have been playing tennis almost as long. I love tennis but I am a better bowler :)

Cars, audio and woodworking. Bowling by far is the cheapest of my hobbies lol.
Besides bowling I am into Cars, Audio equipment / music, construction/ remodeling/rehabbing, and formerly softball.

I just started bowling again about 8 months ago, but golf and archery and shooting are my other hobbies.

Drag racing and tinkering with anything. I throw nothing away until I take it apart. I posted some car videos before but here's my car which I really just gave to my son and grandson. It will be in the family forever.

I've been playing slow pitch softball much longer than I've been bowling. Four of the guys from the team started bowling last winter after softball ended and this year another four of us started a second bowling team during the winter. It's been a great way to stay busy and see some guys that we otherwise might not see for six months.

I used to bowl action 40+ years ago and then go street race in NY. It wasn't like it is now the cops said go home. These day's they take yr home if you street race. I'm am all track now. But I do play on the streets, as long as there's no one next to you it' not speed competition. Hate to say it but 43 years of driving muscle and never got pulled over or even a parking ticket....

Nice Camaro Lou! Those are some serious cams.
I don't go to the track much anymore. A lot of egos and trash talk these days.

Seriously big cam. And not a lot of guys still have the brass to race with a stick!

I have been a tennis player most of my life. It was my life as a teenager in high school, and coached it in college.

Running (hence username) although that is starting to dwindle just a bit due to time and other priorities... golf (picking up some of the running window) and music/music production. Getting back into the instruments and DAW environment, but it's gonna be a bit of time before that really picks up with any original work.
I would say cars (just picked up a 2004 RX8 for free to work on/play with, got it running with a few DIY repairs) but way less than some of you guys

Golf - I try to play a minimum of once a week. Hockey - I started playing hockey long before I started bowling. I just put the pads back on and played in a pick-up game a few weeks ago after about an 8 year layoff - just a few hours before league night, at that!

I do RC trucks/cars (off/on road) for 3 decades, but not as serious as I once was....No more time for racing, just bash with my boy and 3 year daughter. 3 yr old uses my crawler and she complains it's too slow.
Other hobbies were golf (4 times a week) - after 16 yrs and being at the range/course everyday (family owned a restaurant at the range) I just suddenly stopped in 2009. R7's were my last sticks. The fun wasn't there anymore and friends took too much mulligans lol.... but this spring, I will be taking those sticks out again. my boy wants to learn and we live between two courses and a range. 10 - 15 minute walk.

I'm really into drag racing. Had to sell my
Race truck (blown Swb chevy) a few years ago, but I still follow/dream about it year round.

I clicked on this thread specifically to come in and say that exact same thing bdtrob, love me some drag racing! Well, anything racing or really just car related in general I'm all for it. I have an turbo 88 Mustang that I try and drag race as often as I can whenever its not raining or crazy hot and humid here in Kentucky. I also just picked up a blown 66 Impala last year that I plan on cruising around in ALOT this year.

It used to be racquetball prior to me injuring my rotator cuff. Now it's fishing. If I'm not thinking about bowling, then I'm thinking about fishing.

What types of RC planes? My son is wanting to get into Drone and Helicopter RCs.
I fly mainly nitro from small.40 size sport planes and 3d planes to my 30cc gasser, I have a few indoor drones I rarely fly anymore and sold my phantom 3 adv drone due to lost interest and wanting a new rc radio,
best advice is to maybe get a rc simulator for computer like Real Flight from great planes, it has drones and helicopters plus countless planes and tutorials to learn to fly. I spend more time on that then anything
It can get costly,
