never seen that before. looks like a chemical reaction due to contact. I doubt it did that just sitting on a ball cup. But I don't know everything.

Someone tried to deoil it in the oven and turned the broiler on maybe.

After looking at it some more, I remembered seeing a similar one before. And thats what had happened to it, they turned the broiler on.

I wouldn't have known, I don't broil bowling balls. I bake'em in the NuBall lol

Ugh...don't put your bowling balls in an OVEN! most household ovens don't go low enough to keep your bowling balls out of danger. Had a guy I bowled with once do it and set his oven to 300, left the ball in there for 20 minutes and by hell it came out looking like the surface of mars

This begs the question - was Mars originally just a big bowling ball?
