Hey y'all, nice to find a place to talk bowling. Just recently got into the sport and bought my first ball last month. Had a closeout sale Storm Wipeout fitted and drilled pretty basically since I was just starting out and didn't know a thing about release. The ball is a little late and lazy, I think the drilling angle is way too big. Now that I'm getting more comfortable I will be looking to add a more aggressive ball to my arsenal soon, probably an asymmetrical pearl drilled 50x5x30 or similar. Looking forward to tips and critiques along the way, maybe I'll get a video put together so everyone can pick my swing apart!

Welcome to the site bigt_45 you might want to work on getting that
release down first before wanting to get a more aggressive ball if you
can find a good coach to work with first that would be your best bet
and money well spent.

Thank you, and yeah that's why I've waited a little while. I've bowled about 100 games this past month or so and I'm finally pretty comfortable with my current release. I'm going to a local ball demo this weekend and a few coaching lessons will likely happen soon also.

Here is the way the pro shop drilled my Wipeout:

The drilling angle is over 115 degrees, isn't that way too long? I was thinking my next ball should have a pin over layout with a 50ish degree angle more like this:

What do you guys think?

Welcome!
Can't really go by where the pin is. If we had the same layout and our pap was different it would look different.
Did they measure your pap? Who drilled it?
Most of the demo balls are drilled pin above the bridge so left and right hand bowlers can use the same ball.
Come find me at the demo. I may have to work but should be off on time to make it.
I'll pm you my number

I didn't really have a pap when I got this ball but I've found it to be 5 over 1/8 up now, which is how I found out this ball is so long.
Welcome to the site, you'll find lots of help for any issue you might have......good luck on the lanes !
