Working the inside of the ball

I hear Randy Peterson talking about working the inside of the ball and I think he is referring to the same topic when he says coming up the back of the ball.

What does he mean?

I think I have an idea and how it effect the ball, but was wondering if anybody out there could explain it further or has a link I could reference to make sure I am understanding this topic.

I wrote an article about a year ago for Bowling This Month entitled "Working the Inside of the Ball." This refers to the hand position at the beginning of the release. Coming up the back of the ball refers to applying less rotation from that starting position than usual (for most bowlers).

Great graphic, Bowl1820! There are some pros who do this, and some who do not. Both are successful.

Thanks for all the responses..I haven't been able to look into the articles yet, but definitely will. When my laptop is back up and running.... I am not looking at this phone screen and digesting this knowledge.
