I'm still recovering from open heart surgery. It's been 3 months, yet I have to remind myself that I'm not healed yet. I've bowled for two weeks in league. I'm averaging around 250 for game 1, 178 for game 2, and around 150 for game 3. I just get tired and can't recover. Series have been about the same- 613 and 611, but I've only shot 3 games over 200.
It's frustrating as hell, but I'll break out and bomb a 300/800 someday. Back to the gym!

How old are you? What kind of shape were you in? The older you are the longer it will take you. My bypass was in 1998 when I was 52. I missed just 4 weeks of league plus 2 Christmas and new year. My avg. only dropped 1 pin.
You just have to do your rehab and you will get back in no time. A torn ham string 4 years ago takes much longer and still give me trouble to this day.

I'm 49 and in decent shape. I went to cardiac rehab for a month, but had to quit because I went back to work and rehab is only during work hours. I'm going to get back into going to the gym I joined before the surgery as soon as my daughter recovers enough from her spinal surgery today.
I'll get there. I haven't dropped a pin in average at all. It takes time to recover. I'm just so ready for 2018 to get here. 2017 has been tough on my family.

Don't let anyone tell you to quit. Fight as long as you can breath.

My advice is "Never Give Up" you will get your strength
back and as fordman1 said fight through it and come out
on the other side victorious.

Good luck on a speedy recovery. Being able to still a good first game should be a bit comforting, but the lower scores on the later too games if frustrating I am sure.

It is frustrating. I brought a 14 pound ball and used it for a few games this week. Shot 210 then tanked with something in the 150's I think. I just run out of steam. I'll get there eventually.
