I'm curious for the guys who have thrown a 300, how long were you guys bowling and what average were you carrying at the time you threw it?

I've haven't thrown one yet, I've been bowling almost 5 years now but honestly, the first 2 years I was just throwing the ball and didn't understand ball motion and have a proper release. Currently, I'm about a 185+ avg and working hard to get over 200+ and one day I'm hoping to throw a 300.

I shot my only one on 08/14/2008, I had been bowling approx. 14 years before that.

It was the last game of the last night of a summer league, Lanes 13-14, series was 202-202-300. I had 3 opens, 2 single pins and split in the series and My Average was 191.

I was 61 yrs old before I finally got it. 11/30/07. That night I had 247-300-231 for a 778. I have had higher series but none I enjoyed more.
Since then I have had 11 in a row 5 times with a 290, 297, 298 and two 299's. I have 3-4 other 11 in a rows after 1999. Before 5-6 more but couldn't get over the hump. Avg. was about 205 at the time.

The first 300 I ever had was when I was 15 years old back in 1966
but it wasn't a sanctioned score it was during open bowling and the
first sanctioned honor score I had was in 1993 which was a 299 game.

Then a couple of months later I had my first sanctioned 300 game and
then I've had a bunch of un-sanctioned 300 games and 800 series the
night I shot the sanctioned 300 game I followed it up with a 277 game
and then a 211 game for a 788 series just short of that 800 series.

I'm hoping I'll get that sanctioned 800 series this fall and maybe a few
more 300 sanctioned games to go with it.

I have not shot a sanctioned 300 yes but have 5 299's and 805 sanctioned. All but 1 was shot with urethane. That one was with a Purple Rhino Pro. Three were with Black Cobra's and 1 throwing a red Stingray on one lane and a Black Shadow on the other. At the time I shot them I was averaging between 208 and 229. All were shot between 198 and 1993

First and only so far was in an unsanctioned league a year and a half ago. I was carrying a 207 at the time, and had been bowling for 8 years at that time (although, I would say "seriously" only about 2 years at that point - working to understand the game, improve my form etc).

I wish I could throw the ball like I did back in the 70's and 80's but those days are gone. Most of my high games are on the new conditions. Series scores aren't much easier because the shot changes so much. Unless you can play the same line and just keep increasing your speed.

shot my 1 and only 300 on 12/27/09. I was bowling a TON at that time, averaging around 225 in one house and 215 in another. The week before, I was subbing on the same league and shot 11 in a row 279 (whiffed 10 pin to open off the sheet). 2 weeks before that I shot 290 in the house I carried 225 in. So it was an about time moment. Had been bowling for about 18 years up until that point from youth league. Was my 2nd season bowling adult leagues.

My first was in 2007. Averaging right about 217 at the time. I had been bowling back in league setting for 3 years when I did it. I have bowled since I was about 5 years old, but, took a break in my 20's as I was getting family and career going.

Since then have rolled 8 more 300's. Kinda close to 1 per year.

I started bowling in 1973 back in college. I shot my only 300 in 1997. I was averaging 193 at that time. It was a notoriously tough house to get a 300 at that time. I think only 9 were shot that season across all the leagues. I missed the pocket once that night, and didn't have an open frame. The thing that killed me was that I didn't break 700. The games were 198 - 300 - 199.
